  • Vienna Suite + Cubase 5.5 -> Conv Verb causing "Cubase Error" and don't start

    Hello,

Here it is: The VSL Reverb which I'm fond of, especially with those FORTI impulses, just don't start or start inconsistenly. Cubase 5.5 gives the message: Error. This crash was caused by plug-ins.... I'm not sure where is the problem because all the other plugins in VSL Suite loads just fine.

I must say that my template is very very heavy, but the computer is a monster, so it's never an issue. Please, help! I need to deliver the project and I can't bounce.

Here's my configuration (and what's used in this project)

    Software :

    • Windows 7 Pro x64
    • Cubase 5.5 x64
    • VePro (latest beta) - in project running 3 instances with full brass, woodwinds and percussion by VSL. On woodwinds, convolution reverb is used on 2 send busses.
    • Vienna Suite (latest)
    • Total RAM usage by this project - 20 Gb

    Hardware:

    • i980x
    • 24 Gb DDR3
    • Crucial RealSSD disks in RAID 0
    • Quadro FX 1700
    • 2xLynx AES16e
    • External Antelope clock
    • External Prism Converters+Aurora Converters

Thank you in advance for the assistance.

Hello Shandor and welcome in the Forum! [D]

The Cubase 5 Forum is full of happy 5.5 users but full of unhappy ones as well.

It seems that a lot of those unhappy "Cubasers" can't use several plugIns with the new update (Wave,...).

So I recommend to test the proper function of each PlugIn with a new empty project first.

This could be a helpful test when you are using PlugIns from different companies

    Good Luck!

    Beat

PS. A lot of users made a "rollback" to 5.1.1. See also  http://www.cubase.net/phpbb2/

Are you using the VST2 or VST3 version of the VSL Convolution Reverb inside Cubase? If possible, could you give some steps to reproduce the behavior? Thanks.

  • Dear Karel,

Thank you for your quick answer. I didn't reply straight away because I was trying to reproduce this bug. The thing is it's inconsistent. It happens from time to time and might well be caused by my own set of components. I have no clue.

One thing I noticed is that it happens more often with heavy loaded project and perhaps have smth to do with interface redrawing.

Right now, I have 150 midi tracks project spread over 3 instrances of VEPROx64 using exclusively Vienna Instruments, 5 Play Instruments, 2 Kontakt instruments loaded with libraries with total RAM usage about 21.6 Gb and proc usage about 10%. There are 5 VSL Convo Reverb With FORTI as well as VSL Eq on 30 audio channels + 5 more VSL Convo Reverb with FORTI Tilt filters. To insert those Convo Reverb I opened it despite the Cubase Error message (it opens like minimized icon without any GUI and only the red close button) and then reloaded the project which opened all those instances fine. Since then, I can open all the VS plug-ins.

To tell you the truth, I don't know, maybe it was just a glitch, because VS plug-ins are of incredible stability. Oh, and I'm using VST3 versions all over.
