  • Apple AU effects cause VE Pro to crash?

    Hello,

I'm building a template in VE Pro with Logic, and I've noticed that every time I add Vienna Instruments (Appassionata Strings) and then try to add, edit or change an Apple AU plugin on that VE Pro channel, VE Pro instantly crashes.  Specific example:

Create a new multitimbral instance of VE Pro in Logic.  Connect to 64-bit server & add a Vienna Instrument.  Add any Apple AU to that channel in the VE Pro mixer.  Close the plugin window and double-click to try and reopen it, or select "change plugin."  Instant crash.

I haven't tried other AU's yet because this is the 64-bit server and none of my other plugins are 64-bit yet.  This is on a Mac Pro 8-core with 16 GB RAM running 10.6.3, Logic 9.1.1 and the latest versions of all VE Pro and Vienna Instruments.

    Thanks!

  • Yes, it happens here as well.

  • Ok, I've managed to reproduce this. It seems to happen only on Snow Leopard systems.

  • Did some further testing on this today as I wanted to see if this issue was only on the 64-bit version and/or Apple's AU's.  On a fresh boot with nothing else running, I opened a 32-bit VE Pro server and then a single patch from Appassionata Strings.  I managed to load a 3rd party plugin (ArtsAcoustic reverb).  I closed the plugin window and managed to reopen it by double-clicking.  However, when I tried to then open a second plugin (Stillwell Audio 1973 EQ), VE Pro instantly crashed.

I hope this gets addressed ASAP since it's a core functionality to be able to add plugins to the VE Pro mixer ;-)

    Thanks,

  • Could you send a crash report to ? Thanks.

  • Done.  Thanks for looking into this!
