  • Mac Pro Insufficient Power?

Hello. I have serious problems  working with Logic and VSL. When I worked with Logic 8 and Panther (Mac), sometimes 'that' warning notification that too many people knows –System Overload. The audio engine was not able to process all required data in time.

    (-10011)– has appeared sometimes but I worked…

In the past, I worked with 30 or 40 tracks. Another times, with 120 tracks (not pulses in all the tracks simultaneously) and the work has finished well.

I updated my Mac to Leopard and had problems (still w/Logic8). A friend of mine told me that, with Snow Leopard and Logic Pro9 in 64 bits, the problem had to be gone.

I updated to Snow Leopard, Logic Pro 9 and 64 bits and the problem became WORST!

A few days ago, to finish a work, I had to go back to Logic Pro 8. The warning notification blinked repeatedly and the CPU-System performance monitoring leds where at the top (…)

I have a Mac Pro, 2 x 2,66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon, 5 GB of RAM and enough Hard disc space. Yes, I know this RAM isn't a lot but I have read a user that has 26 GB of RAM and has the same problem. Too many people say that has the solution for every problem but, on the road, the reality is so different… I have read a comment in wich somebody (of VSL) said that The Cube can be played in one computer. With what configuration?? I'm talking about instruments and plug-ins, of course! I'm working in a film music in one month and I need to know the truth. Please. Is the Vienna Ensemble the solution to my problem? May I work with 120 tracks, plug-ins and sub-groups with my Mac and a Mac mini? Please, don't laugh… The point is that I'm a bit far and don't know the answer. If anybody knows it, please let me know. Thank you very much.

  • It sounds like you should be able to do that on that machine.  You may want to try a Logic support board, there are things that can be done to optimize Logic for best performance.

You also may need more ram, as cheap as it is there isn't much reason to be using 5 gigs.
