  • VE Pro multi not working in Logic or Cubase after update??

I have been happily using the multiple output instances of VE Pro and before that just VE. Today I updated to the fantastic new Vienna Instruments Pro software (superb I will write another post on this magnificent advance later) and also took the opportunity to get the latest version of VE Pro. However now that I have done so, it only shows me the stereo plug in both in Logic (latest version 9.1.1) and Cubase (5.5). VI Pro does show the 4X stereo multi option, or the plain stereo but VE Pro in both hosts does not, only the stereo. I tried reinstalling, checking permissions, I uninstalled VE Pro, then reinstalled - still no change. I checked all of Cubase and Logics plug in settings (deleted a few I noticed shouldn't be there anymore) but nothing significant. In Logic's audio units manager it doesn't show you if a plug in is capable of multi output, but in Cubase it does, and in Cubase, VE Pro only shows up two times - as a VST2 instrument and as a VST3 instrument: both of them stereo only - no multi output version appears.

Anybody  have any ideas about this (urgently!)??

  • Open the VE Pro Server on the system that is running the plugins and check your audio output settings. My guess is that you only have 2 outputs defined there, which would explain this.

  •  It would seem that you haven't enabled the multiple outputs in Cubase. Two things:

    1. Insert VEP into the VST Instruments rack (F11)
    2. Click the little black triangle next to the name. You should get a while list of possible outputs, depending on what you set in the VEP Preferences.
    3. Enable the outputs you need.

    DG

  • I tried that - only 1 stereo output is available...?? that also doesn't explain logic...?

  • I tried out everything I could now something is definitely weird... Everytime I open Cubase, I have to go into the plug in manager and reactivate all the VSL instruments, ensemble, ensemble pro and instrument pro. The Vienna suite plug ins remain activated. When I quit cubase, and then start up again, they are deactivated - every single time. I have tried activating them, saving  template, opening that on launch but still the same thing. Bear in mind this is also not working in Logic. I tried opening VE Pro in standalone and changing preferences to alter the outputs, no change. When I open the server, it still only shows the two outputs because that is all that is available to select within the host (logic or cubase). I have tried uninstalling both VI pro and VE pro twice, no change...

    Help!

You have to open the VE Pro Server, not the standalone. The preferences in the VE Pro Server also apply to the VE Pro Server Interface plugin on the same system.

  • Aha, I'm sorry I was looking for preferences in the usual spot on the app menu I just saw the preferences on the server... all clear now - thanks very much.

That still doesn't explain why the VE Pro and VI Pro both refuse to stay activated in Cubase - everytime I launch Cubase I have to manually go in and activate them - after which they work fine. Any ideas on that one?
