  • Downloaded update for VE Pro and got VI Pro with it..

    Hi there,

Can't figure this out - - I have a licensed copy of VE Pro and updated it today to the current version. Oddly enough, VI Pro appeared when I clicked on one instance in hopes of loading an instrument. eLicenser doesn't display any license for VI PRO and, for VE PRO, it shows a license for VE 3. I am a little confused. Today I was hoping to make a some music not confront a new, hugely complicated, interface. I know I will love it once I learn how to use it, but, for the moment, I am glad I have a recent clone of the main drive with an older version of VE PRO and VI on it. I would very much appreciate learning what happened. Help!

  • You probably have a demo license for VI Pro on your eLicenser. In any case, you can still use VI in VE Pro. There are now buttons for both VI and VI Pro at the bottom left of the VE Pro user interface. When creating a new project and a VI Pro license is present, VE Pro will automatically add a single instance of VI Pro instead of the old VI. Be aware that once the demo license expires, you will not be able to load VE Pro projects containing VI Pro's unless you buy a VI Pro license. The license for VE Pro is indeed named "Vienna Ensemble 3", since it is the same license basically. I hope this clarifies things for you.

  • Hi Karel,

Thanks so much for your help. At least I was able to make a little music. In my consternation, I have used up, in a single day, 20 of the 30 demo starts of VI Pro - - simply by loading the updated version of VE Pro. Hopefully, when these are used up, the regular VI will become the default with which VE Pro opens.

Again, many thanks for improving my day,

    Stephen

  • That is indeed exactly what will happen. There will be no trace of VI Pro in VE Pro unless you have a license for it.
