  • Master power panner for VI Pro

Please could we have a master power panner for VI Pro? Lets say you have a solo instrument you want reduced in width and panned half-left if you put these settings in the slot mixer then they have to be entered for every single articulation - a time consuming and fiddly process (the slots can't be panned as a template as loading the articulation resets them.

With a master panner all the slots could be left at the default value and a master position applied universally.

Can you add this to the list?

    Thanks

    Julian

  • Hi Julian,

in this case, IĀ“d simply use the power pan in VE PRO or in the soon-to-come new free Vienna Ensemble update. Alternatively, thereĀ“s also the powerpanner in Vienna Suite.

Another trick: Hold down [ALT] while loading a patch - all settings will stay the same.

    Does that help?

  • Hi Paul,

The Ensenble family don't permit Logic automation (in multi timbral mode) so VI Pro is definitely my weapon of choice.

Useful to know about the ALT trick but please do consider the master power panner as I can't see any downside and with the assignable front panel no real estate problems.

  • HI Julian,

we will consider it, but itĀ“s not a priority on the to-do-list. Thanks for the explanation!

  • a way to accomplish something similar to  (and almost as effective as) a master pan would be the ability to select multiple channel strips in the slot mixer and have the changes made to one powerpan translate to all others (maybe when holding a modifier key like you have it for volume in the VEP mixer) - hey, that would be cool for VEP as well.

  • Yes but the master pan could not only give an exact position for all the slots at once it could reposition the overal image on an intricate panning set up over many slots. It could reverse it, change it mid left to mid right or mono it. And if it was implemented further flexibility could be achieved by having a pre/post reverb position!
