  • "Error loading preset VI-14 VSL Preset Level 1" in VI Pro

All other presets work when I load them in VI Pro (even violas), but violins will not.

Under Matrix, I'm able to load Perf-Legato/Portamento and Perf-Repetition samples, but when I try to load Articulation Combi, it tells me there is no valid license.

Here is a screen capture video to illustrate the problem:

Vienna Instruments Pro License Not Found

I've tried re-installing everything (VI Pro, VE Pro, e-License Control Center) and re-updating the Violin Ens Library. Interesting, the Violins will load fine in the standard Vienna Instruments sampler.

  • Ok, I tried reinstalling Orch Strings I from scratch from the dvds, and the preset loaded into VI Pro without any error messages.

However, the Perf-Legato samples were not playing. I ran the latest library update (from 2008), and now I'm back to the original missing license problem.

I also noticed that if I pull up the Perf-Legato Matrix _only_, the samples are missing when I switch over to Perf-Portamento with the mod wheel (the keys are greyed out at the bottom as well)

  • Hello Ben,

sorry to hear about your troubles, and it´s a clever idea to capture a screen video!

It will also be of interest which OS you are working on, on which computer (specs). So far, we had 2 cases where this happened, with different VI Collections, and a re-installation of the sample content always helped. Did you try to install the content on a different harddrive, just to exclude a bad harddrive as the cause?

We´ll look into this more - please let us know if you find a solution!

    Best,

    Paul

  • Thanks Paul. I tried to simply move the Violin samples to another hard drive (setting the Directory Manager accordingly, of course). But the same error message occurs. I will now try to do a fresh re-install of Orchestral Strings I on the different hard drive. In the meantime, here are the computer's specs:

    Windows 7x64

    Asus P6T

    Intel I7 920

    EVGA GTX260

    12Gb Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600

    WD Hard Drives

  • Ok, the problem still exists on the new hard drive.

First, I tried a fresh install of Orchestral Strings I, and the preset loaded (but the Perf-Portamento samples did not). So I ran the library update, and now VI Pro gives me the same error message as before. The standard VI and VI Ensemble still work perfectly, however.

I wish VI Pro would load these Violin Ens samples because it works amazingly well with all the other instruments.
