  • Clicks problems with vienna ensemble pro server 32 or 64 bits with omnisphere

I tried this set up and gat a lot of clicks in the ouput what ever i assign omnisphere to one or two more outputs back to my sequencer , it does it with logic performer and cubase , so it is sequencer independent , it seems the problem arise when using one plugin with several ouputs In Omnisphere, assign the omnisphere patches to whatever omnisphere outputs you want. Then create "audio inputs" in the VE Pro mixer and select the appropriate omnisphere output as the input in the field immediately under the fader of the audio input channel strip. Eg if you have two omni patches going out output B and C respectively, create 2 audio inputs and select those omnishpere output channels as the inputs to the audio channels. Then in the field below that one select (for the purposes of this example) net 3+4 for the omni B output, and net 5+6 for the omni C output. Then in logic click the + icon at the bottom of the VE PRO multi in the mixer page to create aux channels. If, in this example, you have created two aux channels you will automatically see the patches described above coming into those channels. I'm in a hurry but I hope that's clear. It's all explained pretty clearly in the manual. It seems vsl do not like multi instruments , with other plug ins with each one asign to individual output no problem but with one plug in synth and multi output i get a lot of clicks Any ideas thanks in advance Patrick Mimran

  • Hey Patrick,,,, my experience with clicks has always been cpu bottlenecks. I have plenty of ram, so found my prob to be 'how many VI's can my cpu handel'?? So raising the playback buffer in my daw, getting rid of any unused plugs that I tested on a track, and anything else to lighten the load on my processor. And then someday getting a faster cpu. Never know if this is your situation, but I've noticed with the latest builds, and the Ve Pro, and instruments Pro, they suck up power rather quickly??!!!?? Good luck ,,,,, Mike

  • Hi Patrick,

I think you will have to give us a little more detail about your setup... system specs, OS, VEP servers running locally or on a dedicated slave?

My initial suggestions: if your running VEP over LAN, make sure that your running it over gigabit wired (with WiFi turned off to be sure you're not connected wirelessly). And to check/ play with the RAM server settings in Omnisphere (make sure that your running Omnisphere in "server" mode), try a larger buffer size. It's possible that your buffer in Omnisphere is too small and your hard disks can't keep up with the DFD. I can confirm that Omnisphere runs perfectly here running 16 patches per VEP instance inside 2 Omnisphere AUs each running 8 patches. Omnisphere runs in the 64bit server and with its memory server turned on.

We run a 240 patch template including 32 omnisphere patches (4 Omnisphere AUs in 2 VEP64bit viframes) hosted on a dedicated slave - 8core Nehalem Mac Pro / 12GB RAM - connected with a gigabit wired LAN cable dedicated to VEP ONLY with no internet or anything else going down that cable, the master and slave Mac Pro are hooked up directly to each other on their 2nd LAN port without going via a hub/modem/switch.

  • I use two macs and PT HD...

    My findings are

in PT HD PB ENgine set a buffer of 256

in the server plug set ZERO buffer.

Works a WHOLE lot better than 128 in PB Engine and 2 buffers in PI. Although it shouldn't

  • Hello Will Here are the infos about my system and some details Mac from where vienna ensemble pro server is alone with spectrasonic Omnisphere have only six voices running with six stereo output back via network my net work is only busy with these programs , i tried as well with a dedicated network and the problem remain Now if i use the same set up of Omnisphere but on the same computer (no network ) then no problem at all So it seems that the problem is from Vienna Ensemble , either a setting mistake or a real software problem For your information on VEPro server the cpu usage never goes above 30% It seems that VEPro do not like multi instruments the clicks (like sturation clicks ) happen quiet often maybe two or three each 30 '' to 1' ( i get the same type of click sound if i turn on and off the master bus , it is just to give you an idea of the type of click sounf i gat ) Model Name: Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro3,1 Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz Number Of Processors: 2 Total Number Of Cores: 8 L2 Cache (per processor): 12 MB Memory: 16 GB Bus Speed: 1.6 GHz Boot ROM Version: MP31.006C.B05 SMC Version (system): 1.25f4 Serial Number (system): G8821375XYK Second computer with Nuendo Cubase or Logic ( the problem occur with any sequencer i use ) Model Name: Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro3,1 Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor Speed: 3.2 GHz Number Of Processors: 2 Total Number Of Cores: 8 L2 Cache (per processor): 12 MB Memory: 32 GB Bus Speed: 1.6 GHz Boot ROM Version: MP31.006C.B05 SMC Version (system): 1.25f4 Serial Number (system): G882846JXYL Thanks Patrick Mimran
