  • Soundset Commands

    Hi-

I'm using the Special Edition + soundsets, VE Pro, and VI Pro with Sibelius 6.2.

Is there a way to manually insert mesages to switch articulations in Sibelius that aren't

technique commands or score articulations?  I'm trying to get celli to play perf-rep legato and can't

find a command.  VE is supposed to switch automatically between fast and slow legato based

on speed, but my legato triplet sixteenths with a slur sound like machine guns.

    Thank you!

    Justin

  • Hello Justin!

Sorry, but currently there is no text command to reach the perf-rep legato patch. You can reach this patch with MIDI commands (keyswitch, CC1):
    "~N32,64" (keyswitch G#1)
    "~C1,0" (control change 1, value 0)

    Best,
    Andi

  •  I think, you could add a corresponding command to the Playback dictionary (i.e. "perf-rep-leg") and activate the proper SoundId-change there (i.e. "+perf-rep legato). You need to define SoundID "perf-rep legato" in the XML File describing your soundset.

  • Great!  Thank you!

I got the performance legato to work using key switches,

but I'm still not getting a smooth legato sound.  Still seperation

between notes.  Is there a patch in the SE+ which will give me

that articulation?  If not, is there a patch or instrument I need to download?

It's a fast tempo and I need a seamless legato sound.

    Thank you!

    Justin

  • Did you add a slur on both notes? You can experiment with "Live Duration" in the properties of the note that has the gap. Make sure it is set to th full ticks for the specific lenght of that note (Yes, unforunately Sibelius thinks in "ticks" in this section.....)

  • Hi Justin and Stefan!

You might be interested in the fact, that the Special Edition PLUS sound set has been updated. A command for the legato repetition is now included. With the new sound set version (and with the Vienna Symphonic Library House Style loaded) you can switch to legato repetitions with the command "rep".

    Best regards,
    Andi
