  • VEP Server issue with DP7 Negaitve counter

To anyone who can help out there.. I have DP 7.21 and the latest version of VE Pro. (7043 i think) This may have been happening all along, or maybe its new, but i just discovered this today. I don't do this often, but today i wanted to write some music in the "Negative Measures" of DP. as in my chunk starts at measure 0 but i realized I wanted to do build up starting at measure -2 (negative 2) and i realized that my VE Pro Server doesn't respond anymore. Interestingly, when the counter gets to measure 0 it all comes back and its working again. But it comes back as a wall of notes, as if they were on "hold" until it got to measure 0 then released at one time! I've reproduced this on 2 different, separate, setups and it happens every time.. This is strange... wondering if it's a VEP thing or a DP thing... or both... Can anyone test this? Reproduce the problem? Thank you any help!! J

  • To elaborate: This is how to test in DP 7.21 (i want to see if its my setup or it's everyone's) 1)set chunk start to 1:00:00;00 and start measure to 0 or 1 2)have something in VEP Server (32 or 64) that you can play. can be anything.. 3)should be working right off the bat... good! 4)now make your transport counter go to measure -2 (negative 2) and press play. See if VEP Server stops responding. It seems to come back in on measure 0. right?? Anyone else getting this??

  • It's a DP thing that happens with VI's, and not with hardware synths.  Maybe it's because of timing compensation or something, but whatever the cause, if DP is moving, it doesn't want to set things in motion until the actually existing part of the sequence is playing.  The obvious solution is to use the Insert Measures function (Project:  Modify Conductor Track).  Of course, don't do this until you're sure of your starting tempo, or it's a pain to fix, assuming bar 1 is still supposed to be at the original SMPTE address you set it to.
