  • HELP!! - VI PRO not seeing Library

Hello, as my subject explains the problem I will now provide the details.

I tried the demo for a few weeks and then I purchased the full license and the license has successfully been added to my USB licenser.

    • After installing my VI PRO everything was working fine, after a day or two the library no longer shows up in the program (whether VST or standalone)
    • The library shows up in Vienna Instruments without a problem, just not in PRO.
    • I re-installed VI PRO and no change.

I am indebted to anyone who can solve this. I want my VSL back :(

    -Sean

P.S. I tried checking my registry to see if there was any kind of Demo entries but with no avail. I am a VSL noob and I haven't found any posts on this that solved this problem.

    Hello Sean,

Please make sure that you´re using the latest version of VI PRO.I´d reinstall in any case.

Then, run your VI PRO Directory Manager, remove all files and add them again by drag and drop from your Finder/Explorer.

Hope that works. If not, please contact , and add a few screenshots (eLCC, Directory Manager, file location). And it would be great to know at least which OS you are working on!

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi Sean, I also tried the VI PRO Demo and then my SE PLUS disappeared :-( and I still haven´t found it yet. License seams to be ok. Any idea anyone?

  • I emailed someone at VSL back and forth for a week trying to figure this out, and they were helpful but ultimately I tried something that worked for me so I will take credit for solving my problem in this case, lol. And if you can, I highly recommend VI PRO. I didn't utilize all it's features until well after having it for a while. The more I learn how to use it comfortably, the more I am doing amazing things with it. Great software!

This is a windows fix (worked for me anyway, Win 7 64-bit)

I tried reinstalling everything with the newest version available online (software, library, e-licenser, etc) with no luck... BUT then I thought to reinstall everything again... this time I uninstalled all of it. I then deleted any mention of VSL in other places in the hard drive. I can't remember where VSL installs to but I checked program files, common files (a folder in program files), C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\VSL, and then deleted any VSL folder in the registry I found (I think only 1). I reinstalled everything and it all worked, my library was back, etc.

2 things to keep in mind if you try this. 1) only delete stuff like this AFTER you uninstall things properly with the uninstaller files - and 2) The registry is something you shouldn't toy with if you don't understand it. If you don't, learn a little about it first (google). I ONLY deleted the VSL folder. I basically just uninstalled it manually more in depth than the uninstaller actually does (most programs leave traces on your computer). Once there was no trace of VSL ever being on my computer, I reinstalled and my library was back. (this was my last resort before either 1) reinstalling Windows and trying again, or 2) seeing if it was a problem with my e-licenser with their support.

Hopefully this helps you or anyone else that reads it.

  • Hi Sean, THANKS A LOT for your detailed answer!!! I´m really looking forward buying the VI PRO and the VE PRO. I loved it!!! Second: I already tried to uninstall everything, but unfortunately it didn´t work out :-( By the way, I have a Mac and after uninstalling I searched for all the "leftovers", as you recommended. Paul from the VSL is confident that we´ll find a way. If not, I will threaten them that I will pass by the VSL company, since they´re located only a few minutes from my place, so they can help me in person ;-) ;-) ;-) I´m just joking! Paul is helping me very nicely!! Anyway, thanks again for your answer!!! Best wishes, Belush :-)

  • Well, if you're in Austria I'm very jealous of you... I practically worship VSL and I miss Austria and the rest of Europe every day.

I am not fluent in Mac but... does OSX have a type of registry or something similar? The reason I ask... a simple search in Windows will not display registry items as the registry is more like data contained within software... not a simple folder or file. In OSX, there may be more leftovers than a simple search (unless you really know OSX in and out and know that you have deleted everything for sure.)

A google search for Apple uninstallers found AppCleaner and AppZapper... I don't know if these could help at all or if they have a demo mode that will allow you to try it first... but there's one other idea. If not... I'm all out, start bugging your VSL neighbors...lol

  • Hi Sean, sorry for not responding for such a long time. When I´m busy I tend to forget things ;-) ig answering. When have you been to Austria? Is that a long time ago? Did you study here? I think there is something like a registry. But since Paul and I couldn´t figure out what the problem was, I completely reinstalled osx, Logic and VSL and I´m still missing parts of my library :-( I also love VSL and I´m almost getting crazy not having the possibility to work with it for more than two weeks now. Now I asked my colleague from the conservatory if he can help me. He is a member of staff at the VSL, soooooo lucky ;-) We´ll see... Thank you so much for your help! All the best, Belush :-)

  • No problem on the response... I've been pretty busy myself lately. I went in 2003 with a student music group. I will definately make it back eventually (I wouldn't forgive myself otherwise). I loved everything in Europe... food, culture, history, HISTORY, people. I went to London, Paris, Geneva, Venice, Salzburg, and Rothenburg... all my film was ruined by an x-ray machine... I need to go back with my digital camera now.

I don't know much about OSX but I like many operating systems you can install over another or without having to reformat. Did you simply reinstall OSX to the same HFS partition or did you format the drive completely and then reinstall? If you simply reinstalled over the original (I don't know if OSX will do that or not) then it may not have worked. I don't expect you to answer my quesion really, I'm just including any other thing I can think of. Although my point may seem a little far fetched, I'm just guessing now cause I have no other ideas. Hopefully you'll get VI Pro back.

  • Was this problem ever solved? I'm having the same problem now. Cheers!

  • Hello ciruwe,

    What did you try already?

  • Hi Paul, I solved it in another forum. The solution was simple and I'll post it here in case someone comes looking for it in the future. Cheers. Quote: delete the cache file and restart ViPro: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\VSL\Vienna Instruments Pro\viprocache.bin

  • I uninstalled every thing VSL, then went into the registry to remove anything left over, removed anything in the Appdata folder (I thought there were two locations, but I can't remember), and I removed anything else VSL stored on my computer. I reinstalled and it worked great. I would first try pauls approach as it's simpler than mine... but if it doesn't work I would try mine, I would makes sure you are using the latest of every software, including the eLicenser, and after that I have no clue.
