    We use a ton of samples for our scores and VEPro is a lifesaver, but we are really interested in moving in the direction of something like MIR. I see a few problems however with doing this:

    1. 44.1k is a killer. I love what I see and hear so far but this kills it from the get-go

    2. I need to be able to create stems, so this means that I either have to layback a cue 5-6 times to get the separation, or that I need 5 MIRs. Neither sounds like a great solution. and just running the mix thru MIR after it's done seems like a shame.

    3. This kinda seems like a step back from all the amazing flexibility in VEPro. After using VEPro so long the idea of having audio interfaces and MIDI interfaces between computers seems barbaric. I see MIR as a possible replacement for the static templates that we are using in VEPro for our composers.

    4. If VEPro had 5.1 outs, I'd be very tempted to get Altiverb in there for Positioning as a poor man's MIR but in stereo I loose that ability as well.

    Has anyone found a way around these limitations? I know that there is a new version on the Horizon, but there seams to be no announced feature on that.

    thanks for your interest in Vienna MIR!

    I perfectly understand you needs - that's why we are working on the next-generation MIR Pro already! Amongst other features, it will bring close integration into most existing DAWs, OS-X compatibilty, free routing and bussing,  selectable sample rates, audio inputs, and more. I think this is the MIR you are waiting for. ;-)

    BTW: "Running a mix thru MIR" will never allow for the full effect of the engine (although it will be possible with MIR Pro, of course), as you can't extract individual instrument positions and their behavior on a stage from a stereo mix. It would be sufficient to take any kind of ordinary reverb in that scenario, no multi-IRs needed! ;-)

    Sounds fantastic, I'd love to see it integrate with the VEPro platform so we can offload all that work to the VEPro server and them come back in 5.1 over the network.

    I suppose we'll just bide our time then as there is no real list of specs. I really need to get a couple new server computers. Is the newest mac pro a good bet to work as a monster VEPro now and a good MIR Pro later, Or am I better off getting a screaming PC. All things being equal, I think that I'd rather spend the extra for a couple macs. I've read through the MIR manual about specs; is that still the most up to date system spec or is there something even better PC wise?

    Maybe I misunderstand what you're saying, but as I wrote above - MIR is not "just another reverb", so you won't gain anything from routing a 5.1 mix into it.

    BTW - VE Pro is indeed providing the underlying hosting- and routing platform for MIR Pro. Still it wouldn't make much sense to have it running on a slave system, as this would introduce additional latency.

    Is there anyway you would consider staggered releases with additional functionality to get earlier releases? For example,

    1) Release 1 embeds the VE Pro plugin functionality ie. Audio over LAN

    2) Release 2 : 48-192khz

    3) Release 3 : stems and routing audio in

    Then we can get our hands on it early. I would be prepared to upgrade to MIR Pro knowing that the future releases where coming!

    While the idea sounds tempting at first sight, I'm sorry to say that we simply haven't got the resources to do this. Complex software like MIR is not put together on behalf of a construction kit of ready-made components. Doing it the way you're proposing would mean to go through the whole beta-testing cycle each time, which OTOH would hinder the developers from moving on.

    We will have to wait until MIR Pro is ready for release as a whole.
