  • VSL Exploration Kit

    Hi all!

I just found this link http://www.bestservice.de/detail1.asp/vienna_symphonic_library/vsl_exploration_kit/de

All VSL Libs with demolicesnes shipped on a harddisk for ~120€

Might be interresting for someone who wants to try bigger libraries (i think there was a request 2 weeks ago in this forum) and the price for a "performant 1TB harddisk" (unfortunately no additional details available) and the Vienna Key also does not seem to be too bad.

    Rgds

    Gabriel

  • Yes, you get the whole Library of VSL for using it 180hours without any limitation...

and you only pay the price for the hardware (HDD + Key).

  • I guess there is no experience yet with the survival of the licenses for instruments obtained previously when the 180 hours demo license for the exploration set ends (since that would take 7.5 days of 24 hours. But would someone know how this might work.

I would be interested to hear about that since I have several download instruments which I don't want to loose.

  • I'm seriously considering the VSL Exploration Kit, but I have a question about licenses and keys. I already ordered the Special Edition STD ED. (should arrive today!) and I will use a Synchrosoft key I have for Cubase. I will need to register the key, and assign the Special Edition license to it. But, if I buy the Exploration Kit, it will come with a new Vienna Key. Will I have any problem transferring the license of Special Edition to the vienna Key? Does the Vienna Key come with demo licenses for the Special Edition as well (I mean, extended and plus)?

    Hello Gerard,

permanent licenses will stay available after the 180 hours demo license expired. Nothing to be afraid of!

You can always transfer licenses from one key to the other - like in your Finder/Explorer, shown here.

The demo license works for ALL VSL products.

  • Thank you fpr the reply. Yesterday I received my first Vienna library (Special Edition STD), yay! I transfered the licenses without problems.

  • Yes, thanks for the reply Paul,

In the meantime I have decided not to expose myself to the temptations and to stick to my original strategy (carefully planned steps).

  • Hi Gerard,

    it is a temptation, isn´t it? [;)]

The cool thing about this is that everything is pre-installed and makes it really easy to compare - and you might be surprised about the cool stuff that comes with the more "exotic" instruments!

    Paul

  • I couldn't resist the temptation and ordered the kit this morning... I'm eager to see the differences between the Special Editon and the full libraries. Some instruments in the SE left me wanting a bit more. For 99€ with shipment included it's a bargain. Cheers

  •  hello,

I have a (probably stupid) question about the 180 hours. Normally you get a demo license for 30 days or so.

This license is for 180 HOURS. Does it mean 180 hours of usage ? So if I use it today for 2 hours and next week for 4 hours, I still have 174 hours left ? Or does it just run for 7,5 days after activation ?

And do you activate all products at once, or can you activate f.a. Chamber strings today and Appasionate strings in January 2011 ?

    Thanks for the answer,

    Remco Denessen

  • Hello Remco,

the 180 hours are for 180 hours of usage, and yes, the demo license works for all products at once.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Thanks !

You will understand that i will order it RIGHT NOW !

  • I just installed the hard disk. I had no problems, absolutely nothing bad.

I'm playing incredible sounds right now, fantastic!

Will it be safe to transfer my special edition license to the new vienna key?

By the way, there are no download instruments to test in the hard disk. I was specially interested in those. Most of DVD collections are far from my possibilities :-(

    Cheers

  • I was also thinking about this.  I have been getting more and more into VSL these days (thanks to the VI PRO) and sometimes wonder what the difference is SE and the bigger libraries.  I own Appassionata and soon to own BRASS II DVD sets but having ALL of the libraries on this one drive is kinda amazing.  Kinda dangerous too since all one has to do to buy is the pay the $$$ and you get a license to DL onto the Vienna key....scaaaaarrrry!

    Hello,

good to hear that you like it!

Yes, no problems there. Make sure that you are using the latest eLCC software

The best way to check out the Download Instruments is to simply check out the sample content lists in the menu under the download instrument icon on the website, e.g., the Soprano Saxophone. Then simply pick these articulations from the DVD Collections.

    Best,

    Stefan

  • I had some problems running the libraries.

Vienna instruments (both standard and pro) crashed after loading some presets from the Special Edition collection. And some times an error about the licensed showed as well (licenses not found). That happened specially while loading any plus library.

I had the Standard Edition installed on one HD, and the Expooration Kit on its own HD. Seems that removing the Standard Edition from my old HD resolved the issue, but I'm not sure yet.

    Cheers

  • Hi dorremifasol,

  • Hi: This is very interesting and tempting, as a means to decide on how to expand my library. Here's my question: Is the 180 hours limit for using (just) this new library, or is it the next 180 hours of activating my VSL license IN ANY MANNER once this is installed? For example: I own SE plus some downloaded instruments. I have current projects (using SE etc.) that I might be editing and mixing with no desire to demo the big libraries, but would time spent on those count toward the 180 hours? Alternately, If I buy this and wait until I have a block of time to dedicate to just working the big libraries, there is no (calendar) time limit on using the exploration kit, correct? Thanks, Steve

  • Hello Steve,

the 180 hours work for all VSL products. You get a separate key, the best idea is to simply unplug it when you don´t need it (although, in your specific case, it won´t affect your instruments).

So there is no calendar time limit, it is 180 hours.

    Best,

    Paul
