  • VEP on 2 Win7x64 Machines - drop instance in PT9

I have 2 Win7 machines networked. I'm connecting across the network with VEP 4.1.7385 (on both machines) Lately, when I connect and loas up instruments on the farm machine, after a minute, the VEP instance in PT will change status to DISCONNECTED. The server says it's still connected, but as far as PT can tell, it's not. I've got firewall off and have run every network optimization I can find. Any ideas? Thanks Russell

  • Hi Russell,

Just a shot in the dark: Did  you try to deactivate your Anti-Virus programs?

  • don't have antivirus installed on either system It's strange.... I've been running PT9 on my dualcore (Win7x64) and Vienna on the quad (WinXPx64), but was running out of power for PT. So I switched computers... installed Win7x64 on the quad and installed PT9. It's got more power for PT9, but it's just endless issues between PT and Vienna. Really just seems like the communication gets interrupted somehow. But I'm also experiencing a lot of issues when I run VEP on the quad machine WITH ProTools... no networking. I can load up a session and instantiate VEP x64 server... load an instrument... all good... then answer the phone and 2 minutes later PT is crashing. Otherwise, working on PT projects that don't involve VEP, no crashing. :-( Thanks! Russell

  • I turned my Jumbo Frames down to 5kb mtu (from 7) on both machines and haven't had the issue yet today... :)

  • ... and then for no apparent reason, it starts happening again. I've rebooted both machines multiple times... just switched Jumbo Frames to 4... :(
