     Hello all: I am planning a vacation this spring to Vienna and saltzburg[:)]!  in adddition to the  great sites, what might one venture to see that is not be listed on the ussual tourist  websites.IE: unknown areas where the great composers worked, lived etc?

    I would also like to know if a visitor to Vienna might be able to get a tour of the VSL facility - to see where all that amazing work is done with real instruments and real people.

    Hi Mike!

    Any composer of special interrest (Vienna)?

    (I am not that familar with Salzburg, however you hardly find any place there without Mozart / Sound of Music)

    Anything to with Beethoven Brahms and Haydn Would be nice to get a quick tour of the facility myself!.

     Maybe VSL should start offering package tours:

    1. A chance to see an exciting session, where a top player plays 3 notes for an hour.
    2. A chance to watch an editor point and click their mouse, whilst preparing the samples for a new Collection
    3. A chance to watch Herb map the samples with his custom mapper thingy.

    Don't fall over in the stampede. [;)]

    related to beethoven you can find many places in vienna, at least 3 museums (Pasqualatihaus, Eroica house, Wohnung Heiligenstadt)

    for brahms i know just a commemorative plaque and the brahms-saal in musikverein

    for haydn you had to go to eisenstadt (not far from vienna) or to the Haydn house

    there is also a Mozartwohnung and of course no visitor of vienna can ignore the cemeteries, eg. for Strauss

    and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.

    Thanks to everyone, I Just got back from my vacation thru Europe. My family was skeptical about Vienna as no has been to Austria before.

    Turns out everyone loved it! I have to say I have been also around the world and I really loved Vienna. It is the cleanest friendliest place I have been too. I got to see two concerts at the Musicverin. 

     Also saw Beethoven’s and Mozart’s house and went to Salzburg for more concerts and experience lots of  Mozart stuff. Had a great time thanks- long live Vienna![:)]

    I also just got back from Vienna and Salzburg. Great experience with the music  performances, museums, and just finding all those statues dedicated to my heros. One thing I didn't get a chance to do was visit the Michael Haydn museum in Salzburg. For those who might not remember their music history, Michael Haydn was the younger brother of Franz Joseph, who dutifully put in 43 years as Kapellmeister in Salzburg during Mozart's time. Next time! Also visited Prague. Wow!
