  • VEP Local host not panning midi

Happy New Years fellow VEP users! I'm using DP 7.22 (latest update) and I have VE Pro (latest build .7553) as a plugin running the 32bit server on the same machine as a "Local Host" I also have a slave machine that has several VE Pro servers running, all connected in DP. both computers Mac Pro's 10.6.5 dual quads. Now, for some reason, I can NOT pan on the local host server, however, i CAN pan on the slave machine. Maybe it's been like this all along, since i normally just pan the audio track that the midi is routed through in DP, but recently i had multiple pianos going through that same audio/aux track (DP calls it a V-rack with Aux tracks). Thus, noticing that i can't pan ONLY on the local host. anyone else experiencing this? on my machine, this is very easily replicated. Is there some CC information that i need to setup? Thanks in advance!

  • After further investigating, It seems that it only happens with my Ivory 2. I loaded in Kontakt and it works, same with my B4II. Anyone else have this? Thanks, J

  • ok so it seems that if the VI - in this case Ivory II - doesn't have a Pan knob, the midi CC lost in translation. No biggie. In Kontakt you can assign all the CC's you want, same in my other VI's. I guess the new question is - How/Can you assign midi CC values to the Pan function on the mixing side of VE Pro. As in the verticle column view that has FX and Sends etc and you can see the Pan Slider. I would think all you do is Right click on the slider... but not the case :( Thank you for the help! J

  • I think if you want to assign midi CC from a midi editor to operate the VE Pro mixer you're out of luck. The lack of a 'learn' function is a clue here.

The normal way to achieve this is to access 'pan' from a VE Pro 'instrument' track, that is provided for [mixer] control of a mulitimbral instrument plugin by, in your case DP.
