  • What would a new VSL library be of?

I was wondering what the next instrument VSL may release, as I am sure they are working on something.

I thought maybe if you take the flute as an example, there could be a Gold, Platinum, Wood and silver options, but after investigations on various good authoritive websites about flute materials, really proved, that despite the material used - there is no difference in sound, so that rules out any new flute libraries based on that idea, as I assume that same reality relates to Trumpet and Sax materials also.

So what is missing that needs to be filled by VSL? I'd like to see more percussion (Latin instruments)  and more exotic things like Canons (is there anything other than the 1812 overture that requires them?), or a mixed bag of unusual instruments, like Ocarina, Flageolet, recorder, mandolin, banjo etc...   maybe we can persuade VSL into something if there is enough interest in something

  • Here are my ideas. 1. Somehow offer a new feature in VI Pro that allows production of divisi in the string libraries. 2. Produce a library similar to the Gariitan Jazz & Big Band 3. Library of world instruments

  • I agree, I'd like to see more world instruments sampled.  Especially more percussion like Burundi Drums or something.  This isn't the first time this has been brought up on the forum so I'm sure VSL has kept an ear to it all and they probably have something coming down the pipe.

As far as traditional orchestral instruments are concerned, I'd still like to see a Boys Choir.  Or even a Girls Choir for that matter.

  • I'd like to see an ensemble of Bb trumpets including a solo trumpet ala Maynard.

  • Definitely World Instruments, especially instruments belonging to non-European classical traditions.

dreaming.......  A Sitar sampled with detail similar to the Solo Violin on Solo Strings 1 would be cool.... and an "SE" download version similar in sophistication to the Upright Bass...

  • Just checkout this, there have been already tons of ideas, suggestions ;)

However I like surprises so let's see what will be next. I would prefer going deeper to "Symphonic" Library. I know that there are millions of ethnic instruments however there are lots of other players in this market already, and i think a company should somehow stay focused ;)

So (symphonic and movie) percussion would be good, divisi strings, the perfect choir, ...

  • It would be great if VSL considered sampling historical copies of harpsichords of the most important building traditions. They already have what seems to be a Flemish instrument. French, Italian and German harpsichords would be a nice addition to it together with the possibility of setting different historical tunings.

It would also be great if the existing harpsichord were made available for download as a full single instrument.

  • Samples+Modeling=Future

  • No wild guessing anymore. It's here. Vienna Dimension Brass!

  • I'm sure it would be interesting if I could speak German.  [:$]
