  • Which would be best

My Mobo has 2 - 6mbs sata connections. The rest are all 3mbs. For VSL SE+ which would be best: 2 SSDs in Raid 0 connected to the 6mbs connectors or 3 SSDs in Raid 0 connected to the 3mbs connectors?

  • it is depending of the ssd you are using

I presume that you are using SATA III ssd !

Normally 2 x Sata III ssd shoud be the best but it depends how fast are your ssd

  • When using 3 SSDs in Raid 0 I would begin to wory about security issues, because the risk of corrupted data increases exponentially with the number of discs ( if I remember right something like 1- (1-x)^n  ).

When you think about 3 SSDs, if the budget is stretchable towards 4 discs, I would consider building a Raid 5 - given the controller supports it.

There you have speed + safety.

  • I have a backup of my VSL libs on an HD, of course

As my raid 0 is only used to be read, there is very little risk of corrupted data

  •  Ah, then it´s O.K.

In that case I would also vote for the 2 SSD solution with the fastest connection possible.
