  • Midi assign in DP

Anybody else having issues assigning midi channels to instruments in VE PRO in DP? Omni works but when I try to split of to each VIPro instrument I get nothing in or out. Same with other plug in instruments. Very frustrating. Since DP isn't 64 bit this is my only way to harness my RAM. ANy ideas?

  • I'm hitting the same problem. I tried using Interapplication Midi to set up another midi line, but no luck. I was about to try MidiOverLAN CP.

That's because you need to assign the MIDI channel to each instrument individually. Leave the VEP channels in omni, but every plugin/instrument gets its own MIDI channel. For instance, I have might have 3 instances of Kontakt within 1 VEP channel. The VEP channel is set to omni, but the 3 Kontakts are set to MIDI channels 1,2 and 3. If there are 3 more Kontakt instruments in the second VEP channel, they might be MIDI channels 4, 5 and 6, etc.

  • Hi Sing4doe, I think I understand you, but are you implicitly saying one would be restricted to 16 midi channels for all instances of VE Pro? In DP I see a different midi out for each instance of VE Pro I have up -- Vienna Ensemble Pro-1-1, Vienna Ensemble Pro-2-1, and Vienna Ensemble Pro-3-1. I am definitely getting audio out of each of the three, but if I try to assign in the VE Pro window a different midi assignment (change from VE PRO Plugin MIDI In 1 to VE PRO Plugin MIDI In 2), there is no midi coming in at all.

  • Yes. In VE Pro, each VI instance I add will receive midi omni signal but when I try to assign specific midi channels to each instrument they don't play. If I add VI pro instances directly in DP then things work fine so its definitely a VE Pro issue.

  • for me, the whole problem was solved by updating to v4.1.7644 Everything works fine now.

  • Hi John,

nice to know everything works with the new version. Regarding the question you ask in this post there is a thread here that will answer your questions i think.
