VEPRO - sometimes can't see instances on farm units

Seems hit and miss when this happens.   If I get a crash and lose connection - reconnecting 'sometimes' seems difficult as I cannot 'see' the instances from the MASTER (slave machines).   The only way around it is keying in the IP and 'EXACT' name of that instance.  I am on W7 64 bit machines.  Anyone else having this issue.  Not a deal breaker - just a bit of a hassle.

A minor annoyance for a billiant piece of software.

Thanks in advance.

Rob

what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Did you try to force disconnect the instances on the slave (this feature is available from the menu in VE Pro Server)? When the master host crashes, the instance may still think it's connected and therefore won't be listed.

Yea I love the 'force disconnect' feature but just to be sure - the next time it happens I'll make special note to do this (I think I have tried it though)

Yes, this has also happened to me but only on one specific Cubase 5 project. The Connect/Disconnect portion of the plugin is blank but once you type in the IP it does connect. I created a new CB5 project and I could "see" the slave with no probs.

Same here, this happens to me quite often.

But I didn't knew you can type in the IP, just tried on a project and it works.

Thanks

Yea - this still happens all the time.  I have 'renamed' all instances with NO underlines or dashes as that causes problems when I type in the 'name' (ip is easy)

nearly the same here. my old default session connects with all the instances. but when I try to connect a new instance it does not show up. manually connecting by typing in the IP does not work ether.

when I close the logic session and start a blank one (and add an VEpro plug in) all the instances show up.

Seems to have something to do with that my old default session was build with an older version of VEpro. looks like everything could work out when I start a new default session from scratch...

I've seen the exact behavior also in Nuendo (running 32 bit applic in 64 bits OS - W7)   But I have also been able to type in the IP and name and re-connected.    This is a bit of a hassle but gets me re-connected.

Exactly the here as Danjo. I'm on Cubase 5.5.3 32bits with W7 64 bits. Glad I'm not the only one.

On blank project VE Pro find the slave. But in big projects I'm working in, if I try to open a VE pro plugin it doesn't show the instances I have in the slave.

I have this problem too, but slightly different:

When I start up my computers, load vienna on the slave and then go get a drink or something before loading cubase and connecting to the slave they won't show up. I have to connect cubase within a couple of minutes (don't know how many) otherwise I have to disable the network adapter the slave is on (on the main pc) and re-enable it and the slave will be found again most of the time.. All win7 x64.

Are you using fixed IP?

yep :)

but I've got 3 ethernet controllers in my main computer.. that MIGHT be the problem (2 fixed and 1 for regular internet). It's almost as if the slaves advertise that they're there only once and the main computer "forgets" it after a while.

I have fixed ip's and don't see the slaves.  My work around is to key in the ip address and the EXACT name of the slave VEP.   A bit of a hassle but ALWAYS connects.
