  • VEP Feature Request- Improved GUI on Mac

    Hello

Something that is really needed in VEP on the mac is a more standard GUI-- where windows behave in the standard way that mac users are used to. For example, the "quit" command doesn't quit VEP unless the server list is the active window. Also, it would be nice to be able to select which instance I want to interact with by selecting it from a list from the drop down menu. Too often a server instance is hidden behind another window and the only way to find it is to literally move the other windows out of the way (or use exposé or something). The same goes for the sever list itself-- it's always hidden behind a clutter of windows. It would also be nice if the program could recall the last size of each window.

Something else I've noticed is that in order to get a snappy response time from the interface when selecting individual instruments I need to have already selected them. What I mean to say is that each individual VI's interface responds very slowly until I have clicked on it. Once I have checked out each instrument once, it seems, only then does the GUI data gets loaded into RAM and I can click through all my instruments with ease.

Another GUI improvement would be the ability to tab over to the name of each channel. This way I could edit many names without having to double click on each one individually

    Thanks MOH

  • In another post I have already suggested that the Server and Instances of VEPro could easily be integrated into one window with tabs. That would solve the window clutter. The server is like a separate application at the moment but it has no meaning without instances.

I think window position and size should be saved with VIFrame but they had problems with this recurring bug.

I agree, naming is a bit tedious with all the clicking that has to be done.

  • Totally agree. Especially the quit problem.

Tabbing would be great - or an overall activity monitor so one can see what is receiving/playing easily. Overall.

  • +1

And On/Off options (preferences menu) for :

    Open the VE windows fullscreen.

    Anti-aliased fonts.

  • I agree too with theese suggestions. I have another one. Maybe someone already made something similar, but maybe not.

As you, I suppose, I try to organize my VI Pro instruments with a set of relatively complete articulations so I can use it rapidly and, more important, because it helps me to standardize my key switches. The problem, of course, is that it takes a lot of memory… The Learn/Optimize process is usefull, but it is not a solution for all situations (particularly when computer is about to use virtual memory)

I suggest that any cell (patch) in a matrix could be dimed (grey) to liberate memory, while keeping the articulation 's reference. That could be a wonderful tool!

I hope VSL's staff will read this and put it on their agenda!

    Thanks to share your ideas.

That is really a great idea. It would be very helpfull and time saving

  • This would be N°1 on my wish list: I start and stop the music in Logic by pressing the space bar. But this doesn´t work anymore as soon as the VE(PRO) is marked/tagged. I would have to click on the arrange window again. This gets some kind of annoying after a few thousand times of clicking back and forth. I´d be more than happy if this could be solved!!! So long, Belush :-)
