  • Dance of the knights - Prokofiev - Chamber Strings

Hi all, here is an arrangement I made to learn chamber strings. I decided to mock up this excerpt from Romeo & Juliet. Enjoy! http://hicks.groupe.free.fr/Danse%20des%20chevaliers.mp3

  •  Very nice, Hicks. Good mockup. Will you continue?

VSL Chamber Strings sounds great; what an excellently recorded string library that is.  As an aside, recently, I've been layering them with one "Violins A" from LASS and have gotten a really sweet small section strings sound (say that 5 times fast). LASS mellows and smooths-out  when Chamber comes into the mix.

  • Hi Mahlon, thanks for the trick. I will try it for sure. I love LASS as well but finally I prefer to have plenty of articulations like with VSL. I will not continue the mock up as it was only to understand how chamber strings library was working. But maybe I will enhance the violin part to get more definition on attack.

  •  Yep, the VSL multitude of articulations is a good thing. I will use them to add emphasis to LASS when I need a stronger marcato, for instance. They really help out. Of course,  I use Chamber Strings by itself plenty too. Such a great sound. And many, many articulations.
