  • Do we need a usb key for Special Edition Download Collections?

    Dear All,

Do we need a usb key for Special Edition Download Collections?

If not, as I am using VSL just solely for sequencer to make film score, does it mean that I can use it directly with Logic, Cubase or ProTools?  Do I need any software like Kontakt?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Yes, you will definitely need the Key. Either Vienna Key or any other Synchrosoft Dongle

    sorry

  • You will need three extra things:

    1. The Vienna Instruments Player (free with any VSL sample product)
    2. A suitable protection device. Either a Steinberg key (formally Syncrosoft) or Vienna Key. If you have a Cubase dongle, that will do fine.
    3. The latest eLicenser software, free form the eLicencer website

  • thanks a lot, DG and gabriel81.

Let me see if I understand completely.  Say, I purchase SE Strings only, and then I can download Vienna Instruments Player free.  Am I correct?

Also, as I owe Cubase SX3, which is a very old version, but it does come with a Steinberg key, so in this case, I don't need to purchase Vienna Key.  Am I correct?

As I purchase, say, only, SE Strings, I will have the suitable eLicenser software free from the website.  Am I correct?

Therefore, it seems to me that I don't need Kontakt anymore in order to use Cubase or ProTools.  Am I correct?

Lastly, can anyone tell me if I can use Cubase SX3 with Special Edition and Vienna Instruments Player on my intel-based iMac?

    Thank you very much.

  • anyone can help, please, so that I can make up my purchase decision.

    Thanks.

  •  Vienna Instruments player free download - yes

Cubase dongle with Vienna library - yes

eLicenser software free download - yes

No need for Kontakt with new VSL libaries - that is correct (though old Kontakt libraries will not work in Vienna Instruments Player)

VSL on iMac - can't help you there, I'm on PC, but from general words on the forum probably OK, but you'll need a Mac user to confirm this

  •  Look, the only dubious part about all of this is SX3 on an Intel Mac. If you know that this works, then you're good to go. However, I would check that up with Steinberg first.
