  • VI Pro/ MIR SE 'Feature'

I am currently using VI pro (build 1.0.7043)  in MIR SE and have a strange problem which happens from time to time.  When I select Velocity Crossfade with velocity as a controller as one of the faders on the 'Basic' page of VI pro the player for that instrument no longer works - no sounds or anything.

I have to delete the instrument from MIR and re install it so that it works again. Very odd, and very annoying.  Anyone else had this problem?

  • Hi Basso, does this happen in MIR SE only, or did you encounter this issue in other hosts, too?

    Does disabling Velocity Crossfade help?

  • Hi Dietz.  To be honest I am only using VI pro in MIR at the moment so haven't tried it in different hosts.

Disabling velocity x-fade does not help - it is enabling the fader channel in the 'basic' view for velocity x-fade and setting the control to velocity that seizes up the instrument.  All very strange.  The only workaround at the moment is deleting the instrument and re-installing it and remembering to set the x-fade up as above before installing the samples.

I will try VI Pro in different hosts today when I fire up my music computer and let you know what I find.

  • For testing purposes it would be sufficient to start VI Pro stand-alone.

  • OK Dietz.  In  VI pro standalone the problem does not occur.  I have just opened up my project in MIR SE which contains 8 instruments and the problem does occur consistantly.

If i go to the advanced view and click velocity x-fade and then go to basic view to set up velocity x-fade to be controlled by velocity and switch it to on, the instrument instance seizes up - I am not able to click the keys to play the instrument, nor does it play any midi fed into it by a DAW.  The track seems to be recieving midi (the green light flashes) but there is no sound. Deleting and re-adding the instrument resolves the problem.  It is very odd - and it doesn't happen every time which I know makes it very difficult to diagnose where the problem is....

I don't know if anyone else is able to reproduce this by following the procedure I have outlined above.

If you happen to run into this problem again - please try to save the MIR Project and send it to , Subject "for Dietz".

    Thanks in advance!
