  • What is the difference between VE and VEP?

So, I've been using the demo of VEP lately, and my demo license did go out yesterday. And I'm stuck with a project I can't finish. I've been looking around and been reading a lot on the different alternatives. I could buy the VEP, for £195. Or I could buy Epic Horns for £95,- as a downloaded instrument. But, here comes the question: Could I load 3rd party plug-ins in VE? I know I don't get the Ethernet/network function in VE, but I don't have a slave farm. So I don't need it yet. Epic Horns: Your purchase of Epic horns also entitles you to download the free Vienna Ensemble mixing and host software. Best Regards Ryan

  •  No, you cannot load any VSTi into VE except Vienna Imperial Piano. VE doesn't have the learn and optimize functionality either. Also, it doesn't support the preserve function, which saves all your VE Pro settings into your host sequencer song.

Go for VE Pro and get the free Epic Orchestra.

  • ohh, damn! well, looks like I have to wait a couple of months. Low on cash right now (gonna be a father, twins). Thank you;)

Just to avoid confusion (and it's easy to get confused with all the different functions of VEP) it should be mentioned that preserve has nothing to do with saving VEP settings into the host sequencer - decouple controls that. Preserve controls whether the VEP instance remains loaded at all times.
