  • Kontakt 4.2.2 update Kills VEP?? Rumor or True?

I read on the MOTUnation Forum that updating your Kontakt 4 to 4.2.2 will make your VEP not load? http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=45474 Can anyone confirm that this is true or simply a rumor? I want to update my Kontakt, but i have deadlines, and it's not worth the risk for me to try. Thoughts?!? Thanks!!

  •  No problems here...

Dorico, Notion, Sibelius, StudioOne, Cubase, Staffpad VE Pro, Synchon, VI, Kontakt Win11 x64, 64GB RAM, Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, August Forster 190
  • ...no problems at all. And : the crash on exit on slave if Kontakt was on VePro is solved.

    -A

  • not true here (VE Pro on MacPro slave, OSX.6.6), no issues.

but, I and some others have downloaded a botched installer for the update of the factory library, subsequent downloads worked tho.

  • Fine here...

  • True here. There's no way to work with 4.2.2 in VE Pro for me here. It crashes all the time.

  •  Works perfectly good here, on Win7 64-bit

  • Works fine here.

  • No problems here using it hosted in VEP on master (OSX 10.6.5) or slave (Win7 64 Pro).

  • Kontakt is less-than-stable in hosts when you are using the host's multiprocessor support and Kontakt's is enabled. I would suggest checking that if someone hasn't. Also check for memory servers. If one uses Play with a memory server - which is Play at all under OSX - and KMS is activated, you'll have crashes.

    Stephan, What's your system setup? I'm using 2 quad core Mac Pro's (1 Master/ 1 Slave) Thanks! J

  • The slave is a Core2Duo and it's working like a charm. The master is an i7 and there's no way working with it. I downgraded the i7 to the Kontakt version before 4.2.2 and it's working again. Best, Stephan

Btw: Forgot to say...with 4.2.2 on the i7 there was no big difference between using the multi core thing in Kontakt. Kontakt just lived a little longer till it crashes with the multi core thingy set to off. Now with the older version I let Kontakt work with all 8 cores and it's fine.
