  • PC Optimized for VE Pro

Any tips and tricks for optimizing a PC for use with VE Pro? I've just ordered a new PC (been using Macs for years) and all I'm going to be using it for is VE Pro. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can and should do to optimize Windows 7 and the PC itself for use with VE Pro and Kontakt and PLAY mostly. Are there services I can turn off? Anything like that? thanks.

  • Hey there ;P I think this threat contains an excellent guide for beginners (like I once was coming from the mac) for optimizing the PC in terms of very basic questions. Besides that i recommend googling for "Optimizing windows 7 for Audio" or something similar and you'll get some finetuning tips. But the important aspects should be covered in this threat here:

If you work with logic it's crucial NOT to use any Multi-Timbral VE-Pro Plug-Ins in logic just the Stereo ones (resulting in a much better performace on Macs with multiple cores). VE Pro should be set to 1 Threat per Instance and to 1 Stereo Port per Instance as well in most cases. Kontakts Multi-Processing to off. Good Luck.

  • Thanks scorefrog! I'll check out the link. A question about what you said on not using multi-timbral VE Pro plugins in logic. Do you mean not to use the multi-channel audio plugins? I usually use the multi-channel VE Pro plugin in case I want to route multiple channels of audio back from say Kontakt or something similar. Is this not a good idea? Is it not very efficient? Is there a better way to send multiple channels of audio from a plugin? Please let me know if I'm missing something. I've been running VE Pro on the same Mac as my main DAW and results have been pretty good but I'd like to improve anything that I can. thanks again!

    Hello swpowe,

I don´t know where you from, so I only have a german link from a musican board. 😊

    PC-Optimizing for Music

    May that help.

    regards.

  • I don't speak German but with the help of Google Translate I have found some useful info. Thanks for the link!

  • I´m glad I could help. Although TuneUp 2011 could be worth to take a look at.

This is also in English :-)
