  • [SOLVED] How do I get VI Pro to work with VE Pro

I am a recent happy owner of VE Pro. I also own VI Pro. I want to use VI Pro, not VI, with VE Pro.

What do I have to do?

And, second question, VI Pro doesn't hide itself when I click on Logic's transport controls. But both VE Pro and VI do hide. Why?

Is there a setting somewhere that will prevent this hiding behavior? It's a little tedious to have to keep bringing back the GUIs.

    Thanks,

    David

  • Hi there,

I might have missed the point here but I don't understand why you would want to use VE Pro on the same machine as VI Pro.

My understanding is that VE Pro is a host that allows you to distribute your instruments across several computers.

If you are using a single computer then I think you would just use VI Pro as a plugin within logic.

If you are using more than one computer you install VE Pro on both machines, your VI libraries on your slave machine, then instantiate VE Pro as a plugin in logic and it pops up on your slave machine. You add your VI's and you are good to go.

Apologies if I'm stating the obvious or have missed the point of your question.

I've just set my second computer up and am amazed that it does what it does.....[:D]

    Cheers

    Dave

  • If VI Pro is installed on your computer then you just need to click the correct button in VE Pro. Makes sure that you have the latest software including eLicenser on the machine.

There are many reasons to use VE Pro when using only one machine. One of them is the ability to keep a large template loaded whist  swapping projects. I certainly wouldn't want to wait 24 minutes every time I opened another project. [:O]

  • Thanks for your reply, Dave.

Using VE Pro has several features that make using it, even on a single computer, superior to just doing everything in Logic. The biggest advantage is that VE Pro allows me to switch projects without having to reload samples, which can take a lot of time. (This seamless switching is effected using the Preserve feature. (As Paul says, its 'a killer feature.')

Beyond that, I simply like the VE Pro environment as a 'native' host for my Vienna Instruments (Pro, soon, now that I got a response from Support). I guess you could say it's a look and feel thing.

Also, I will be installing Vienna Suite soon, and the integration of Vienna Suite within VE Pro seems like a simpler and smoother way to go than to try to integrate the Vienna Suite effects into Logic as plugins.

    Best regards,

    David

With me, I don't get the option of a VI Pro button in VE Pro - which would allow me to add an instance of VI Pro.

I just get the old VI button.

I've installed VI Pro as I can open up a stand-alone version. It just doesn't seem to be intergrated with VE Pro for me.

Do I have to re-install VE Pro??

    Thanks for any help!

  • Have you installed the latest version of VE Pro?

  • No I didn't!

What an idiot! I just tried it and it all works now!

    See... I am stooopid!!  [8-)]

    Thanks DG!!
