  • Two drive instances to run VEP and Epic Orchestra

On our machines, we always have two hard drives in separate mobile racks. One mobile rack is for testing the installation and use of new software. The other drive is for production: after the testing is deemed ok on the test drive, software is then installed on the production drive for real use. Only one mobile rack - test or production - is in a machine at any one time. A third drive is used for samples. I have just installed VEP and Epic Orchestra on the test mobile rack and everything appears fine. I am now about to install VEP and Epic on the production drive. I have two questions: 1. I assume this practice will not cause any problems with VSL software? 2. In the case of instruments, can I skip the installation on the production drive (since the files are already installed on the sample drive, which is shared between the test and production drives) and somehow point VEP to the sample drive? Or do I need to install the Epic Orchestra again and just install it to the same place on the samples drive, overwriting the existing Epic files. Thanks

  • you would use VEP's *directory manager* to indicate to VEP where to find the samples data on the drive that it resides on.
