  • Values for PPP PP P MP MF F FF..... in Xfade

    Hello everybody.

I wpould like to  ask if someone know the relative Values for Dinamics indication.

To  control th Dynamics I use the Velocyte Xfade which as range has 0 to 127

can someone indicate me which are the relative values to obtain this kind of dynamic?

    PPP=

    PP

    P

    Mp..... an so on

thank  you  so much in advance

  • This is different from library to library and also different between the patches (even with same number o velocity layers) However this information (for the velocity layers) is in the library manuals.

However i would recommend not to use these values as 100% values, just slide it up until it sounds you want it to sound ;)

  • Thank you  again

I asked this because I use Cubase 6 with with Expresionn map

and normally I make my variation with the CC11 driving the xfade

sometimes I would like to  use also the dynamic Signature and then re-touch with mx CC11

but If I do not know the prevois values of Dinamic signature is very hard to  get

I rember that once Isaw somtehnog about that in the forum but I cannot find it no more

    help?????

  • Hi vasa!

Did you check in the manual oyu have information like

    3 velocity layers: 0–55 p; 56–108 mp; 109–127 f

on a per patch base ...

  • Thank you Gabriel !!

Yes I checked and also I made a simple file with Cubase 6 using all Dynamic Symbols and so I get all the values.
I am thinking to  make a post in the forum, may someone else need that, what do  you think?

  • Well my experience with Cubase and Expression Maps is that the mapping of dynamic symbols is quite useless, as the velocity xfade needs to be adjusted also during a note event.

Unfortunately cubase does not allow to controll a CC over the track as well as over expression maps so my way was to only use the faders for velocity XF

    Best regards

    Gabriel

P.S.: I am also novice so, don't give too much about my opinion ;)

  • Hi Gabriel,

also me i had so many problems with Vst expression because becaue  the CC11 that's why I work in just little different mode.

try to check one of my post named " How do I work"

now I found few solution that can make the job littler easier.

The Dynamic indications in this way are vere useful and when I retouch the volume now know the values where to start from.

    let me know

    See you

This is a very important point. Static dynamics will bring you nowhere when arranging pieces in which the dynamics and intensity of notes vary over time (such as, for example, almost all things strings).

    Hello Vasa, hello all

Here is an additional Link for adjusting the dynamic within the Vienna Instrument.

(It has to do with the midi-levels you mentioned above...)

    Adjusting the dynamic range

    All the best
