  • PLAY can't be loaded in VEPRO!!

I saved both metaframes, 32bits for PLAY and 64 bits for VSL. Then there's a problem here. When I try to open 64bits metaframe first and then 32bits, VEPRO alerts that they can't load PLAY. When I try to open 32bits one first and then 64bits, it seems working but a few minutes later, 64bits server is gone!!! and IN 32BITS SERVER INTERFACE, there's two preserved name. It seems 64bits one is included to 32bits. For the next step, I open Logic. On Logic 9, if I choose 32bits one, yellow arrow lights (next to preserve) and it asks me to reload PLAY data while 64bits one works. So I'm stuck!!! How can I solve this? Any commments would be appreciated. Sunny

  • I bought a PC to solve this problem, I never had any luck with Play either in OS X. It works fine in Cubase, and seemed to work ok in a 32 bit instance of VEP, but then I loaded Wordbuilder and it blew up.

In the last week or so, I've bought a PC to house VEP and all my samples, including Play, running 64 bit instances, and even though Play seems to channel differently (retardedly!) than other libraries, it finally works, including Wordbuilder. I currently have 5 Symphonic Choir/Wordbuilder channels and 2 Stormdrum channels in VEP via the slave, and it's working beautifully. Pulled a lot of hair out to get there. FWIW, the first 20 or so instruments, all multi-matrix VSL, work beautifully, as do my other products, with no effort or thought.

Our problems are obviously different, but I've come to the conclusion that Play only works well one way: PC Win7/64...and the caveat that you need to forget everything you know to make Play work. Especially with VEP64, which works amazingly with no learning curve with everything else I have.

EW needs to hire some VSL staff for a few months lol.

  • Thanks a lot for replying, Shawn! I also have a slave computer, PC WIN7/64 on i7 x86. On 8 core mac pro, my main computer, to get a conclusion like you, I have to transfer all mass play samples to slave computer which takes lots of time. So, before trying it, I just checked to see if it works in a different way. 1. Open 64 bit metaframe -> Works with just one click! 2. Open 32 bit server. 3. Load 32viframe file on it manually. 4. Open Logic and load a template which is decoupled with VEPRO outside Logic. It works I think. 64bit server is never gone. The other thing I'm wondering is....when I use DECOUPLE command, in the logic template, do I have to click manually CONNECT button? This process is really bothering.....
