  • 64 bit VSTs on MAC OSX. Whats going on??

    Hi,

I have come to the conclusion I know nothing about how 64bit vsts work in mac osx. I have always used cubase on windows - made the move to 64 bit, where in this case you got 32bit dlls and 64bit dlls. In mac there's only one .vst.. how does this work?

I ask this because a project im working on which includes instances of vienna instruments wont load (cubase 6 64 bit), and I think it has something to do with the 32 bit pluggins and vst bridge. How do I know if the instances of vienna are actually 64 bit so I can eliminate them from the potential problem? I think my vst bridge in cubase is clogging up with too many samples and want to confirm that VI instances are 64 bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Hi Composer_Larkin, When you open up VE Pro, you can open up either Vienna Ensemble Pro, Vienna Ensemble Pro Server (those are the 32-bit versions), Vienna Ensemble Pro 64-bit, or Vienna Ensemble Pro Server 64-bit. The name of the program should tell you what you need to know. You can have 32-bit and 64-bit versions of VE Pro open at the same time, as well. Hope this helps!
