  • Exert from HERO - Tan Dun

Finally, after years of pining away for VSL SE, I got my grubby hands on it. Up until now I've been using EWQLSO Silver, so you can imagine my excitment when I finally bought SE.

And wow was I impressed with the portamento patches in the solo strings. I had finished a piece that was dominatley harp and bassoon, and at the end decided to add a solo violin. Added some portamento slides, and instantly thought of HERO by Tan Dun.

So, I did up an exert from Farewell Hero. It isn't even half the piece, and of coarse no choir or voices in it. But I think it came out pretty good. The percussion isn't quite right, but even still, I think it's okay. Thought I'd share it here, as I've yet to post any of my work here, and this is a community I have waited a long time to be a part of.

Any comments or crushing critisim quite welcome, heh. Can't learn and get better if I don't get feed back.

    Cheers and thanks for listening.

  • Nice work Darrin.  It's an excellent demo of the portamento features.  I'm a fan of Tan Dun also but partial to the Crouching Tiger score.
