  • Surround pan and balance

I see in the screen shots of vep5 that there is a picture of a surround pan and surround balance effects... Is this included in vep5 or do you have to purchase separatly? I can't find this software anywhere on vsl site... I see the Vienna suite software but the panning software in that package is called power pan...I'm confused

    Thanks for any help!

  • Thanks for your interest in VE Pro 5!

The surround options and add-ons come as part of the application, you don't have to buy them seperately.

    Kind regards,

  • thanks for the comment!   However I can't find this anywhere.  I purchased and downloaded VEP5 and no mater what I do I can get past a stereo panner in the channel strip?

How do you get the surround effects to show up?  I'm using Cubase 7 on a mac and I also have a windows 7 PC in my system and EVERYTHING just shows up in stereo.  Plug in or stand alone VEP5 all I get is stereo and NO option to use surround.

I could not be more lost on this one... where is it?

  • I suggest you read page 13 of the manual. It explains how to use surround. The surround plugins are only available in surround projects.

  •  Ok, so I read page 13 and what I found is that on my MAC (brand new machine running snow leopard NOT LION) in the audio folder I have a VST file for a "surround" VEP5 instance but when I go to add it to my Cubase 6 project under VST Instruments there is NO VSL Surround choice present???

I looked in my plug-in information dialog under "devices" and it shows up there with a check mark and no problems. I just can't put it into a project because it won't show up in the "VST Instruments" panel.

Anyone know why I can't see this "surround" option in Cubase 6???  I can get it to work using Logic 9 but that as you know uses Audio Units NOT VST.

    Help!

  • I have the same problem, but I'm using ProTools 9, and was hoping to get a response here, but nothing... GOD bless!

  • I have the same problem... I'm using ProTools 9, with Vienna Ensemble Pro 5, and can't see the Surround Balance plug-in. I'm not using a slave computer or anything, just the same server. Please advise... GOD bless!

it isn't just a matter of a VST called "VEP surround". surround is a way to configure a project's mixer in VEP.  "The surround plugins are only available in surround projects."

Once you have done and you have that loaded, you connect to that [project (vi frame), as resides in a VEP metaframe] in Cubase VST instruments, as Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 Surround. if you have the metaframe coupled with Cubase, and it has that surround config. Cubase will remember that and it will load its project with the appropriate setup in VEP. If you have it decoupled, you handle what is loaded on the VEP side - as a preserved metaframe - before connecing with Cubase (which does remember what VST Instruments slot is which metaframe).

  • so how do you create a surround project?

  • VE Pro: File>New Project, or Convert Project Channel Configuration opens a dialog box with all the configurations.
