  • How well do metaframes created in VE Pro 4/VI Pro 1 translate to VE Pro 5/VI Pro 2?

I tried to post this before, it never appeared, so apologies if it ended up on the forum twice...

I'm looking forward to upgrading.  But I have a lot of projects with metaframes created using VE Pro 4 and VI Pro 1.  I have two questions:

    1. If I load those metaframes into VE Pro 5 and convert the VI Pro 1 instances into VI Pro 2, will those old metaframes sound exactly the same without tweaking?  My experience going from the old VI to VI Pro 1 was that I had to tweak a lot to truly restore my metaframes.  Has anyone tried this and can you report?

    2. Will VE Pro 5 load the old Vienna Instruments (i.e., the version before VI Pro)?  Some of my old metaframes are composed of old VIs.

    Thanks,

    Peter

  • Both VE Pro 5 and VI Pro 2 are fully backward compatible with VE Pro 4 and VI Pro 1 respectively. This includes usage of the old VI.

  • Good to know, thanks.  So, forgetting for a minute about the old VI... if I play back a sequence using a metaframe I've converted from VEP 4/VIP 1 to VEP 5/VIP 2, it should sound exactly the same as before the conversion? (Again, this was not true going from the old VI to VI Pro.)

  • Hello,

For most of the time it should play identically. Due to some restructurization in the internal logic, we may have caused some unintentional changes in the behavior. If a project plays back incorrectly after upgrading to VIPro2 - then please submit a support request.

    Thanks,

    George

  • Will do— thanks.

  • On this subject, can we PLEASE have VI Pro open instruments in their originally designed mode of MONO not POLYPHONIC. This is the major problem when loading up VI (old) setups. The legato prgramming for old projects assumes that the instruments are monophonc. In fact I still want them monophonic!

Actually, the ability to remotely control the poly/mono mode of VI instances would be really really useful too. I have requested this before,

    Thanks for reading
