Hello

I have done my library updates. Many thanks for doing them.

There was more than a hundred instruments to updates ! it took more than hour to do it

How can I check that all the instrument have been updated ?

Is it possible that when you do a multiple update that you do not have to click OK twice between each library update and you display the date of the last update

It will be great if you will be to improve the updating so it is as simple as Mac os "software update"

Many thanks in advance

Best

Cyril

Hello Cyril,

i had asked me the same questions like you. As i saw the update-list, i promtly thought: Why i couldn't be like the "Software updates" tool from Mac.

Best regards

It is a bit of a pain. Luckily, you only have to do it once, so even if the procedure was changed, it would not be of any benefit to you. Wink

To start, all I am asking is a way to check if I have upgrade all my instruments.

DG, VSL may do other upgrades or patches !!

Hmmm.... when I downloaded the library updates, all I did was launch Directory Manager and drop the RAR files onto it, and they were installed.  Took like a minute or two.  Did you somehow do it by hand??  I did the library updates on Win7, maybe it's different there than OSX, dunno.

It would be nice to have some kind of log file that shows what was installed where.  But it you look at the DAT files for each instrument you will find that some have been updated, and also will see the ViPro2 Matrix folders that have been added as well as the Chords folders.

Best,

Greg

I have download the 97 files from VSL site, drag them into the directory manager.

On Mac you need to click twice between each file

Hi Cyril,

I have many of the same instruments, but because I bought them as the DVD sets, my updates were simpler and quicker. Even so, I had to look in several places to make sure I had them all.

I really sympathize with you! Sad

I do agree that some kind of notification system for updating would be really nice. Maybe the VSL Directory Manager could search for updates and download them if you choose to do so. This way, all the libraries that one has installed could be compared with the VSL database.

That's a good idea, as long as it would be possible to turn it off. I would never want this feature, because neither of my studios are connected to the Internet.

For me, a preferable way would be email notification when new builds of software and/or library updates are available.

Oh.... I see your pain!  Yikes.  The DVD instruments were all bundled together so it was fairly painless.

I don't own any library, but I like reading the posts on this forum.

My solution would be a library update file that updates all libraries. If you only have 2 libraries, only 2 libraries will be found to update.

That way you just have to download and run a single file.

I like that idea, but then again I have quite a few libraries. I can already imagine the complaints from people that they have to download a huge file, when they only have one product. I don't think that it would be possible to please everyone.

I have no idea. My updates came to about 70MB, but I would be pretty cheesed off if all I needed was 1MB of that. Imagine if I was on dial-up, rather than broadband. Surprise

I understand, but..every new build of one of the softwares is also around 70 mb.

Just to say it's not that much. Are there that many library updates?

new idea: no single instrument updates, only dvd product updates.

that way you won't download a lot more than needed if you only own few libraries :)

  1. That's why I said earlier on that even though updating was a pain, it would only happen occasionally. If a "fix" is quick and easy for VSL, I'm all for it. If it takes substantial development time away from more important things (obviously "more important" depends on your own definition...!) then I would say that spending 5 minutes clicking every couple of years is no hardship for me.
  2. I think the people who have mainly single instruments would hate not to be able to use all the fantastic new features that the updates bring (such as the legato slur, which sounds great).
