  • demo version of MIR not finding roompack

    Hello

I have followed all insructions to my knowledge but keep getting the error prompt:

"There is no Venue available for Vienna MIR Pro please make sure to have at least one Roompack installed and set the correct Room Pack Data Folder in MIR Pro Prferences" (Options-> Preferences-> Vienna MIR Pro)

By the way, Happy New Year

  • A Happy New Year to you, too! :-) Sorry to hear about your problems, I'm sure we can sort them out easily.

Please let me ask the obvious first: What OS are you using? Are you using VE Pro / MIR Pro in stand-alone-mode or in server-mode? Did you download and _install_ the Trial-RoomPack? (The downloaded file is just a binary). Did you change any of the default paths during installation? If so - did you tell MIR Pro where to look for the RoomPack-data.

    Thanks for any info.

    Kind regards,

    Mac OS 10.6.7

I am using it in server mode (Plugin thru Logic Pro)

I did download the roompack and installed it.

I did not change the default path.

I also checked in the Roompack Data Folder in The Vienna MIR Preferences.

The path is Library/Application Support/VSL/MIR Pro

However, I could only get to the preferences thru the  Preferences Icon at the top of VE Pro 5 and not thru Options/Preferences/MIR Pro as it says in the error prompt.

I could not find Options on the VE Pro 5 nterface.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Using the Preferences-icon is perfectly ok, nothing wrong with it.

Would you please give it a try and see if it works in stand-alone mode, so that we can rule out any Logic-related issues?

    TIA,

Having the same result in standalone.

  • Make shure that the _default VMI_ is in the same folder as the roompack. If it doesn't work try to reinstall VE PRO/MIR Pro (and drop the roompack VMI in the folder of the default VMI again.) This way recently I've got same problem solved. Best Frank

    Thank you for your help.

The default vmi is in the Vienna MIR folder.

I do not see any Roompack file.

Where do they go when installed and what name for the Roompack should I see?

    B L

  • The RoomPacks downloads are supported by VSL's Download Manager, which should also start its installation. If it doesn't, please start VSL's Library Installer appIication manually.

In case you have decided to change the installation path to a custom location, please make sure to point MIR Pro to it later on. The default installation path is [WIN] <SystemDisk>\ProgramData\VSL\Vienna MIR; [OS X] Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/VSL/Vienna MIR.

After installation, the file will be called "Vienna_Konzerthaus_Mozartsaal_Trial_v2-r263.vmi". It should be 217 MB in size (about 228,000,000 KB). The extension *.vmi stands for Vienna MIR Impulse-response data.

... please make sure that MIR Pro's Preferences point to this file.

    Kind regards,

I will have to download the roompack again because I don't see it anywhere on my computer.

    I just found the Roompack.

It was put in the folder Roo_MIR_TrialRoomPac_k-r263 on my desktop for some reason (I have 3 Monitors)

Anyway the files in it are:

    MIR_TrialRoomPack_files txt

    package.info

    ViennaMIR_Roompack1_v2_Trial_01cab

    Are these the correct files?

I didn't see a Koncerthaus file that you mentioned.

    Let me know.

    thanks

    B L

  • This is the download-file (a binary). Like mentioned before, you have to install it now. Didn't VSL's Download Manager ask you to do so ....? Strange.

In any case: Please open VSL's  Library Installer manually now. It's part of VE Pro's installation and should be on your system already. Point the Library Installer to the "package.info" file you mentiond above and follow the instructions.

... the strange thing is that all of this should be a semi-automatical process from the very beginning. I don't know what obstacles the installation encountered on your system, sorry to say so.

  • I have experienced a similar problem. Purchased, downloaded and installed VE Pro 5 but have the same response when I try to open a room.

Library/application support/VSL/Vienna MIR/default.vmi. There is no other file within that folder.

There is no file labeled "package.info" on my CPU.

    Hi Zigzag,

like pointed out earlier in this thread, you will have to download the actual impulse response data, too, to use MIR Pro. These sets are called "RoomPacks". As long as you don't have bought an actual license for MIR Pro, feel invited to get the Trial RoomPack from your User Ares for testing purposes:

    -> http://www.vsl.co.at/en/68/428/1957/1622.htm

Please follow the instructions given on the top of that page.

... this is the direct link to the Trial RoomPack: -> http://dl.vsl.co.at/downloader.aspx?ID=7605

  • Thanks Dietz

I thought I'd already been there/done that. Clearly I was mistaken.
