  • VE PRO 5 Feature(s) requests

Three things that I think would only make VE Pro 5 even more spectacular than it is:

1.- The ability to reload an individual channel. I often have problems loading certain vst plugins (e.g. Sampletank). I just get the message "error could not load plugin". The solution is simply to reload the whole proyect, but depending on the size this can be very time consuming. If there was an option in the right click, just as "duplicate channel" but "reload channel".

2.- Return windows to default. I don't know if I'm the only one out there that has had problems with the "new docking and undocking windows" feature. But it would be very, very useful to have the option somewhere to "return to default view" or something similar.

3.- It would be nice to have a shortcut (ideally Tab) to navigate between mixer and instrument window when they are overlaid in the same dock. I'm sure most of us who work 8 hours on a computer prefer to use the mouse the least possible, not to mention shortcut speed up the workflow.

This is by no means a criticism of the software, I am very grateful to the people at Vienna for the work they do. But these features (particularly 1 and 2) are something I really miss in this software.

  • Hi,

    I support requests nr. 1 and 3.

    Regarding nr 3:

There is a shortcut mentioned in the manual, "esc" for "toggle Mixer view".

I expected it to have the effect you are asking for, but I cannot find any effect at all..

    (Win 7 64 bit here...).

Maybe Nr. 2 is already implemented (click "window-icon" in left upper corner of instrument window, in right upper

corner of mixer- or channel window) (see my other post in your thread regarding this feature).

  • The "esc" worked on VE Pro 4, but it doesn't work for me in VE Pro 5.... There's no return to default view, if you make the mistake of undocking all of them there's no way of getting them back.

But this is working here. I have an instance of VEP5 standalone with two instrument windows. I undock the channel window,

the mixer window, and then the two instrument windows. I position them to my likes, I change their sizes. Then I click on

the "window" icon in the instrument windows (upper left corner), and doubleclick on the titelbars of mixer and channel

window, and they all are back in the original position.

I can repeat this procedure in a different order: no problem, I can return to the default view.

It would be nice to be able to do this with one keystroke nevertheless... and the different procedure for

mixer/channel vs. instruments is a little strange.

  • Hello Mathias, see my other post so you can see the pictures of what is happening.http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/p/30678/198316.aspx#198316

Nevertheless, Karel found a way to return things to default.

The Instrument window behaves like the other dockable windows. The larger "unsnap" button has a different purpose. It takes that particular editor out of the shared Instrument window (which can only show a single instrument editor at one time).

Working like in VE Pro 4 (so with the Mixer and Instrument windows tabbed on top of eachother) is possible, but the Esc key has been replaced by either F3 or F4, which toggle visibility of the Mixer and Instrument window respectively.

    Oh yes, very good surprise!

Maybe I've overseen something... but perhaps all these things could be explained a little more detailed in the manual? 😊

    Regards

  • You're right. A manual update is in the works that fills these hiatuses, along with a VE Pro 5 update.
