We're investigating this issue. It seems to happen in rather specific circumstances.

Sending all notes off in Logic does not turn off the notes. You need to toggle the power button in VEP

Anyway glad to hear you are looking into it , thought I was going mad.

I have got somewhere with this but there is still a problem . Instead of cabling all of the 16 multis to each vepro instrument in logic from the all port macro , I tried splitting them out so that multi port 1-4 goes to one all prt macro which then goes to one slave instrument . Then uncable the rest of the multis from the all port and copy and paste a new one. Into the new one cable say another 4 multis and send that to another vepro instrument that has say midi ports 5-8 activated and so on . This seems to have got rid of the hanging notes so far anyway. Maybe reducing the midi load has helped. Obviously you still can't put all your sounds in one instance of vepro this way but splitting the ports into 3 or 4 doesn't seem so bad.

Could you send the Logic project which is giving you the hanging notes to please? Thanks,

I am having an identical problem with the Mulitport Layer. I am getting errant MIDI data going to seemingly random instruments that are within the same VEP instance (I only have one in the sequence). Not only does this happen with MIDI volume moves while the sequencer is playing/recording, it also seems to happen when I option drag objects in logic to copy and paste them while Logic is playing. Man, I just spent quite a long time setting up a VEP template and now I can see it's going to be trouble.

Yup , wait until VSL fix it . mean time use IAC bus for midi instead but dont try and offline bounce.

MS wrote:Could you send the Logic project which is giving you the hanging notes to please? Thanks, I have sent it through . In the meantime I have kept 3 multiports and the rest using IAC bus which has got rid of the hanging notes . It seems the multiport layer cant handle too much info. Looking forward to you guys finding a fix .

I just started setting this all up tonight. I didn't notice any hanging notes yet but I didn't get a compete template together. It almost makes me wonder if I have to go back to one instance per. A couple side notes I changed the multi-channel to a single channel instrument on some as I use a channel as an articulation selection. If you just use the 'all channels' instrument it won't show in the mixer. I also added a filter to ignore CC7 data so it doesn't change the volume of the plugin channel strip. Hope the note thing can be solved quickly. Chris

Hi, Just wanted to let you know that our developers have found the reason for the hanging notes and are working on an improvement at the moment. An update will be released as soon as this fix is confirmed and tested. Thanks for your patience, Paul

Paul, Much attention has been given to the hanging notes issue and none has been given to the problem I have with NI products that will not work when Logic plays. It is 100% repeatable. Load any FM8 sound in VE pro with an arpeggiator and it stops playing as soon as Logic plays. This happens with Kontakt, Kore, Reactor. It does NOT happen if you load the same sounds directly in Logic.

Frazz, Of course we are also looking at other issues and bugs. It´s just that if we confirm or answer every single question, this generates more questions, which again need to be answered. And instead of fixing problems, our developers spend their valuable time in the forum. I know you have just joined us in december, so you cannot know it, but VSL´s reputation for fixing bugs is pretty good, and we´re doing the best we can to listen to everyone. The workaround for now with FM8 (though you probably don´t want to hear it): Use FM8 directly in your host.... Thanks for your patience, Paul

It does NOT happen if you load the same sounds directly in Logic. This sounds like you are using the even input plugin in which case you need to have the i/o plugin also on every channel including the VEP plugin set to a pair of outputs and then bypassed. Also, FM8 is a 64bit plugin now why not just use it inside Logic (as Paul mentioned)...it isn't like it takes a long time to load a synth. :)

No, I am not using the event plug in. True, I could use FM-8 directly in Logic. It was an easy example to demonstrate the problem. What concerns me more is that also effects Kontakt 5 and many of their preimum products like West Africa and Studio Drummer. My biggest concern is many tempo based instruments do not work AT all, even if host sync is disabled in the plug-in. They go silent as soon as Logic starts to play.

Weird as I've not experience this with hosting Kontakt5 player and 4 on the mac mini slave. Have you tried it with different machines? Chris

It works properly when I run VEP5 locally on my mac It does not work when I use it on my PC over ethernet

That's helpful information. I'll note it down for investigation. Thanks.
