Hi VSL,

are there any news on the release date for MIR SE Pro?

MIR PRO really seems to be a great software! Congrats VSL! It would be great to have the possibility to upgrade my MIR SE to the MIR SE Pro version. Back in December it was announced somewhere here in the forum that it should be finished in February/March 2012. Is everything still on track?

Cheers,

Sabine

Thanks for your interest, Sabine. A side-license version of MIR Pro will indeed get released in the not so distant future. It will be called "MIR Pro 24" (or very similar to this), and it will also take the place of legacy Vienna MIR SE.

Right now, our developers are busy to hunt down some peculiarities of VE Pro in combination with certain DAWs (mostly Logic), so it might take a while before "24" is actually seeing the light of day. 8-)

Thanks for your patience.

Hi Dietz,

thanks for the info! Sounds fine. But as a current MIR SE user I would really appreciate it if you could give it a name like MIR Pro 32 (or very similar to this). ;-)

Cheers,

Sabine

Functionwise MIR Pro 24 will have very little restrictions other than the limited number of inputs ("Icons") within a Venue, so it's give-and-take.

Sabine, just in case that you're a VE Pro 5 user, too: The best idea might be to upgrade to Vienna MIR (the full "legacy" version), because then the full-blown version of MIR Pro would be free for you anyway. ;-)

Kind regards,

The Vienna MIR demos sound very impressive.  I'm trying to understand how MIR would exist in my setup.

I have the Symphonic Cube distributed over three servers using VE Pro 5 (absolutely great software by the way!).  I understand that the Vienna Suite license allows us to run on each of our three VE Pro 5 servers.  Does the Vienna MIR license allow us to do the same?  Or is MIR intended to be run on the host only?  If so, I'm not sure how well that would work as my quad-core i7 iMac is already busy enough running the sequencer and video.

Will MIR Pro 24 allow a different way of working across the three server VE PRO 5 setup?  I'm just trying to understand the practical realities of moving to include Vienna MIR.

Thanks for the clarification,

Steven Gentry

Hi Steven,

actually MIR (and thus MIR Pro) was meant to be used as the final mixing stage for a virtual orchestra - in the sense that _all_ signals can find their place on one virtual stage, inside _one_ virtual hall (a.k.a "Venue", in MIR-lingo). That's why MIR and MIR Pro were single-licence products from the very beginning.

With the integration of MIR Pro into VE Pro 5 we have seen that a few users with very elaborated setups want to have MIR Pro on several seperate machines. Although this is
actually against MIR's initial idea of simplifying and streamlining things, VSL has decided to extend the concept of legacy MIR's stripped-down "SE"-version to a significantly cheaper Pro version that comes with all features, but a limited number of available inputs, to make it useable as an additional licence on a slave machine, too.

Details will be announced as soon as the product is ready for release. :-)

Thanks for your interest & kind regards,

Dietz, thank you for your reply.  That is encouraging information.  I will eagerly await the MIR Pro 24 product details announcement.

Hi,

So does that mean that MIR24 will have all of the functionality of MIR, but with a limit of 24 instruments/sections in the chosen venue?

=> Yes.

EDIT: I´ll have to add that MIR PRO 24 is still in development, so there might be some other minor changes, due to the design of the product.

Best,

Paul

How much RAM will be required to run MIR 24?

As much as you can afford! :-) I would say not less than 12 GB, for any kind of serious work.

Like pointed out before, there's no linear function to describe MIR Pro's RAM consumption. It depends a lot on the chosen Venue as well as on your arrangement, the involved instruments, the samples loaded, used plugins, and so on.

I'm in the same situation: I have MIR SE and VE Pro 5 - where would I find the upgrade to MIR full "legacy", and how much would this cost?

greetings from Burgenland :-)

Hi Michael,

I was under the impression that the upgrade path was desicribed on www.viennamir.com, but I have to admit that I can't find it myself ATM. 8-) ... please get in contact with , they will be able to help you.
