  • VE PRO WISH LIST

    Dear VSL

It will be great f you could :

    1) Instead of displaying "Vienna Mir pro" in the vertical mixer that you display the setup of Mir Pro i.e. MIR 5.1, MIR stereo, MIR 7.1 .......

    2) If a track is "OFF" can you add the possibility not to see "off" tracks and/or to see them greyed in the vertical mixer

    3) implement multiple operation on all the parameters using the "shift" (like you do it for port and midi)

    4) add the "ON/OFF" in the vertical mixer window

    5) Allow the vertical mixers to wrap on another line

    6) show the spinning wheel  until ALL the instruments are loaded

    7) If CTRL or ALT click on the volume set it to 0dB (in the vertical and in the horizontal mixer window)

    8) supress the horizontal mixer (that will save CPU cycle)

    9) define a common rule for every item i.e. when "on" the item is in red when "off" in light blue ......

    10) I dont know if that will help : Allow to bounce each channel off the 7.1 separatly in case your computer is not enougth powerfull

    11) display error messages when you cannot read samples and midi notes in time

     12) Display error message when you cannot find the samples of an instrument

    Thanks in advance

    Best

    Cyril

Yes,  I have asked for this before,  so I will second that request again here. We need to know when all samples are loaded from all plug in's.

  • A simple nice thing to have is perhaps an autorun feature, for VE server. Also it would be nice to hide certain unused buttons. For instance if I have a licence for VIpro it is very very unlikely to use VI standard player, therefore it would be nice if I could hide the button at the bottom. Cheers.

  • Hello all

Here is a new proposal for VEP wish list:

Add a general Hide button that would make invisible hidden traks in the vertical mixer. Currently, the track's Hide button is used to hide the instrument on stage (in MIR).

This feature can be found in Logic Pro (as, I suppose, in other daws). It would be very useful when using large personnal setups with a lot of ready to use tracks.

  • Hi all,

I love MIR Pro to bits, but some of the above features would indeed be useful. Especially the wrapping of the horizontal mixer onto a second row - though I'm guessing there is some technical problem with this, as VSL went to the effort of creating the narrow/expand mixer option.

My own request would be a global MIR bypass button somewhere near the global learn/optimise/reset one, so that MIR could instantly be bypassed on all instances for situations where you need the CPU power for elsewhere. It might even be handy to have a global on/off switch for the reverb built into each instance of VI, so that this could quickly be switched on as an alternative when MIR is bypassed, as it's brilliantly processor-efficient. I know that can be done with CC messages, though.

Also, Cubase (and as far as I know, several other DAWs) have global solo all/mute all buttons, which can also reset currently soloed or muted instruments. I thought that might be a handy thing to have in VE, if it's not too much hassle to implement.

Finally, if we're allowed to dream big, imagine a MIR roompack of one of the Cardington airship hangars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Cardington). Shame the even bigger one 60 miles South of Berlin has a rainforest in it now, huh?

Thanks for all the suggestions - rest assured that we DO read them. 😊

Some features are already implemented, though, or the desired effect can be achieved easily by other, already built-in means:

You can Solo / Unsolo any number of Channels by Ctrl+Clicking an activated Solo-button. You can put any number of _selected_ Channels by Alt+Clicking a Solo-button of one of the selected Channels.

The same is true for Mute / Unmute, of course, as well as Hide / Unhide (in case of MIR Pro), and On / Off in the Channels Window on the left.

Ctrl+Clicking any active Button will toggle the state of all other buttons (e.g. Unsolo): Ctrl+Clicking an inactive Button will toggle the state of all but the chosen channel. Add Alt to Ctrl+Click to achieve this for any number of selected channels.

VE Pro's Selection Groups are a handy feature to make full use of these shortcuts.

... more nice little Shortcuts and Special Features can be found on p.54 of VE Pro's Manual, BTW.

I'm not so sure if something like a Hangar is a Venue that makes much sense in MIR Pro, to be honest - but it would be nice to make just a few IRs for conventional convolution reverbs like the one that comes as part of Vienna Suite! 😊

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Dietz, I think you've hit the nail on the head every time.

I'd missed the bit about alt clicking and control clicking, that'll be very useful. I have to say I can't get the control+alt+clicking working for bypassing MIR on multiple channels, it only seems to work on one channel on my system. But just having the control+click to disable makes it much quicker to disable each channel than having to right click and go through menus.

You're right, a few IRs would probably be much more suitable. I was trying to think of mystic spaces-type venues which might rival the Steinhofkirche for scale, and thought a hangar would probably be easier than a cathedral. Are there any plans for more mystic spaces?

Use the Shift modifier to apply to all plugins in one row. Shift-Control for bypassing the entire row of plugins. Hold down shift while inserting, to insert the same plugin on all tracks etc.

  • Hi Martin,

Sorry, my shift key isn't having that effect. Alt and Control are working as expected, and shift is working for tasks in the channel strip on the left (such as changing the channel for multiple instruments at once), but not for adding or disabling several plugins at once on the mixer. That is not the end of the world, though, I can live with it.

This doesn't work for me. Is this a new thing? I'm using 5.1.12684
