    Hello,

    Spring has started.. I know...

These are a few remainders of a past winter exploring the vsl libraries I would like to share and acquire some feedback/critique on.

    Enjoy,

  • I think those are just great!  I had one tiny criticism - the grace note turn in the cello on the very last measure of the allemande did not sound right.  But it is only about a half second.  Was this only one violin with cello?  I was not sure but started to hear what sounded like a second violin. Was that some crossfading layers?

Anyway, these have really good control over subtle changes in tempo, also the small but important accents and dynamic changes.  These are all near perfect.  Wonderful to hear Bach as always.  I think the bourree is the best but they are all really well done!

  • Thank you for your kind remarks and taking the time to critically listen to my material William.

As you note correctly these should be just the solo violin and cello from the standard plus edition. I initially couldn't identify what you were referring to in the allemande.
However, closer inspection of the last measure revealed accidental use of viola samples.[:)]

  • Hi Martijn,

I think you've done an absolutely superb job on these too. I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed listening to them and I'll have to leave to critique part to the experts out there. Thanks for posting these and reminding me what can be done with time, expertise and lots of hard work (I can only presume!).

    Regards,

       Tom

  • Absolutely super, in fairness.

  • Hello Martijn

Why don't you use "legato" or better perf-trill (if you have this articulation) for the trills (allemande)?

  • Hello Beat.
Thanks for taking the time to critically listen and hearing this for me.

I replaced the version with a new one, which slightly improves the situation .

Actually I am still slightly wondered I didn't notice this myself. Especially since the subject of the exercise had to do with articulation.
I truly believe that this is what makes this forum a great place: Present to the best of ability and then find out the things that aren't working that well in order to eventually reach the level of much of the fine music that is showcased here on this forum.
    Regards,
    Martijn
