  • portamento and glisandi speed

    hi,

Is there a controler to controll the speed of the portamento and glissando patches ?

  • for some instruments they come in different speeds I think. so you can use the matrix and a controller of your choice.

of course with VI Pro 2 you should be able to make your own variations with time stretching und again use the matrix and a controller of your choice.

    hope that helps

  • In the basic VI, the speed of the portamento is fixed.  As already mentioned, in VI Pro 2, you can use the stretch function to edit the different portions of each articulation, and you can create a variety of portamentos with different speeds, from much faster to much slower.

Oh, I should add that in a similar recent thread, Beat provided a link, IIRC, to a tutorial he did on an alternate method of creating portamentos with different speeds.  I don't recall the title of that thread.

  • in VIP 2, you can set some time variance by envelopes during the stretch procedure.

  • Thank you , that helps.

Wish there was away to just sync the speed of both articulation to the project master tempo.

I feel, the next step of controling articulation speed, runs, fast legato,  etc should be automatic to the master tempo.

  • I would like vibrato to be controllable by a CC.

I don't think I'll find necessary correspondence with tempo myself.

'Garritan' brings in vibrato along with the swell by CC1, but it's always the same rate. there are ways to disguise it but when I hear it I'm worried about how convincing. Stretching goes a ways toward a solution for me. I think it's going to be less effective for some 'patches' than others, though.
