  • [SOLVED] How to insert a non VI into VE PRO 5?

Hello everybody! I was wondering how to add for instance an EXS24 instrument (Logic 9) into VE PRO 5 in order to set it up in MIR? Any help is highly appreciated :-) Thanks in advance!

  • Virtual instrument can be added by means of the "Add Plugin"-command (either available from the right-click conetxt menu or as a shortcut).

Be aware, though, that EXS24 is no actual AU plugin, but tied to Logic's engine like all other virtual instruments that come with the application. You will have to use VE Pro's Audio Input feature to route EXS24-channels into VE Pro / MIR Pro.

  • Thanks a lot, Dietz! [:)]

One mor equestion: How do I tell Logic to rout the EXS to the Channel thatĀ“s just been set up in VE PRO? Sorry for these questions!

    Thanks again!

  • Hello m-tone,

    This is how it works:

    1) Insert one instance of VE PRO (as an instrument in Logic) and connect to your VE PRO Server.

    2) Insert an I/O Plug-in into the VE PRO track, activate the output and bypass it (as shown in the Logic-specific part of the VE PRO 5 manual, pages 34 and following).

    3) Insert EXS 24 as an instrument in a new track

    4) Insert the "Vienna Ensemble Audio Input Plug-in" as in INSERT in the EXS track.

    5) Insert an I/O plug-in as an INSERT in the EXS track, activate the output and BYPASS it.

    6) In the Audio Input Plug-in, assign the server you are connected to. And choose the audio input you want to use (depending on the Preferences you have set in VE PRO 5)

    7) Open an Audio Input track in VE PRO and assign the chosen audio input channels.

  • YEAH!!! I made it!!! I canĀ“t believe it!!!

Thanks Paul for this great and detailed information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi,

It gets easier with time [:)]

I was a bit shocked about the long setup list as well, for just one track thatĀ“s a bit much.

But once your setup is there, with VE PRO connected and everything, itĀ“s fine!
