  • Diminuendo to silence

    Hi,

    I can´t seem to make the "Diminuendo to silence" work, (the sign is the hairpin with an "o" at the end).

    How do I assign MIDI messages to VE PRO to make it fade out the volume-fader ((EXP-fader)? I have assigned the Velocity Crossfade to Expression (CC11) and set the Expression to Volume (CC7).

    This applies to VE Strings sound set in Sibelius with House Style loaded.

    Cheers,

    Henrik

  • I thought the notation was a hairpin with an 'n' at the end for niente.

  • Hi,

    I think the notation with "o" is the modern practice, it´s standard in contemporary notation. And it looks good!

  • Hello Henrik!

    Concerning playback the diminuendo to silence hairpin works just like a normal hairpin. I recommend putting a "ppp" expression at the end of the diminuendo to silence hairpin and hiding it.

    Additionally you can control the Expression fader with any free MIDI controller you want. The Sibelius syntax for sending MIDI CC is as follows:
    ~Cxx,yy
    xx = MIDI CC number
    yy = value

  • Hi Andi,

    thanks for chiming in.

    Yes, I´m trying the MIDI sending possibilities, but how do I send a message for fade out? - by entering values for each "step" in the fade out?

  • Hi Henrik!

    The Sibelius plugin "Cresc./Dim. Playback" might be of help, but it is only capable of sending CC7 or CC11.

    Andi
