  • Harp glissandos in Sibelius

    Hi,

I need to trigger harp-glissandos in Sibelius 7 but can´t find a way to do it. I know I could send a MIDI Message, but which one?

Do I notate as normal with correct pedalling, and gliss-symbol between notes?

    Cheers,

    Henrik

  • Hi Henrik!

The harp glissando patches do not make that much sense in notation software. You would have to notate the key(s) that need(s) to be pressed in order to trigger the wanted sample. This of course would be incorrect from a notation point of view. That's why they haven't been included in the matrices for Sibelius in the first place. If you want to use them anyway, I recommend replacing another patch that you don't need in your score and trigger the glissando like you would trigger the patch you have replaced (for example "bisb" or "pdlt").

Anyway, you can let Sibelius perform the glissando fo you withe normal articulation. Simply use a glissando line from the start to the target note.

    Best,
    Andi

  •  Henrik,

There is a Harp Glissando plug-in from Sibelius site that you can download.   It uses the single note sample but it works fairly well.   The plug-in also allows you to specify the harp pedals and the dynamic range.

  • Thanks EP, I'll check that out!
