  • samples randomly cutting off short

I am finding that when using certain patches,( e.g. 01 VI-6_perf-legato), some notes at certain velocities do not sustain, e.g. G#3 with a velocity >89

I presume this is related to samples missing loops ??? but then it sometimes appears to be a random problem.

Can anyone help please, as thisa makes Vienna virtually unuseable as I never know whether it's going to play proper note lengths or not.

  • Nobody ?

This problem is getting worse and worse, today it happened on solo violin.

BTW, how do I change my signature?

  • Hi Pete,

did you run the Library Updates for your Chamber Strings collection?

They update files can be found here:

Signature settings are placed in the menu COMMUNITY/PROFILE/, there you have to select the "Community" tab to see your forum profile settings.

  • Thanks, I didn't know about those updates.

That seemed to fix the issue with chamber strings, but I there are other instances that are still a problem, one example:

    01 VI_perf-legato

I have a semibreve A#3. This cuts short, although if I run Logic just from the beginning of that bar it plays the full length, but if I run Logic from the previous bar, then that note cuts short.

(I ran the solo strings update)

When you play from the note itself, you are getting start note. When you play from the previous bar, you are getting a legato note (including the transition. These are not looped, so the length you get is the length that  was recorded.

  • So you mean it plays as if it had started on the previous bar, or wherever the beginning of the legato phrase starts?

This makes no sense, it certainly sounds like the notes are either looped (or they were played with bow changes) as there is a dip in level at some point in the sample.

If I am reading this correctly, it's impossible to simulate a string player playing a note or legato phrase longer than is possible in one bow, even though in real life they would be able to change bow to make the note as long as necessary.
