I was wondering if Vienna would consider offering the VePro Plugin beside the existing plugin formats as Rack Extension for Propellerheads Reason.

By that we could use Vienna Ensemble Pro, Vienna Instruments and Mir in that environment.

Rack Extension started last week and there are quite a bunch of big names on board (Softube, Korg, iZotope, Fxpansion, Gforce, U-he just to name a few).

Getting my AU plugins into Reason via a VE Pro rack extension would make me cream my pants. I already write articles promoting VE Pro, but this would be the mother of a articles!

I've looked into this already and am afraid to say that this is very unlikely to happen due to technical restrictions of the Rack Extension SDK.

Understood.  I do hope Propellerheads show interest in how they can make the SDK better for you and other developers.

The SDK is not final yet. As far as I know the main restrictions are in the Gui area.
They promised more features for the next version.
Anyway, I am happy to hear you even considered a rack extension. :)

I have sent several emails to PropellerHeads asking them to consider a partnership with VSL to create a Vienna ensemble rack. Just to stream audio and receive midi. I hope both parties are interested in such a collaboration and have consistent communication.

The SDK has evolved and Reason has now midi out. Maybe Karel can check again if it is possible now. With the new midi module of Reason 7 it is a nobrainer to send midi to a (localy running) Vepro Server. Midi sync with Vepro is also working fine. The big deal is to get the audio from Vepro in the Reason mixer. The thing needed is "only" an audio input RE from Vienna.

I definitely hope this is possible.  It is the only reason i don't use Reason.

Hello.  Has there been any further consideration regarding Propellerhead's Rack Extentions?

2017, anything new on this subject? (probably not)

I would love to see  a VE virtual input on my Reason DAW one day. Is it costly to make this adjustment? (I am just wondering why it still isn't there, and what is the reason behind this)

with kind regards,
