  • Anyone getting a Cubase memory leak when using VE Pro? [PC]

    Hi,

Using Cubase 6.5 I'm getting a gradual build-up in use of memory for Cubase at a rate of 100-300 MB per hour. This can end up at over 10GB memory usage for Cubase without it hosting a single sample.

This doesn't happen when I am only using a VEP instance on the slave PC, only when Cubase and VEP are running on the same PC. I am using latest builds of all software and only host samples in VEP.

As a side issue (but equally irritating), periodically Cubase will disconnect from the slave PC - using during an autosave (i.e. the instances become shown as disconnected in Cubase - but on the slave the VEP Server initially thinks it is still connected). I have to forceibly disconnect the instances on the slave before being able to re-connect again. Curiously, once I have done a mixdown - the problem goes away.

Happy to give more details - but first I just wondered if I was the only one with this issue and if anyone had any theories.

    Cheers,

    David.

  • Hi David,

I am experiencing the same memory leak issue with Cubase 6.5 and VEP running locally.  Have you discovered any solution?

  • Bump. Cubase 7.5

  • I have tried to reproduce this by connecting to an (empty) local VEP instance from Cubase 7.5, using the VST3 plugin, then leaving Cubase on cycled playback for 5 hours. The memory usage stays exactly the same.

How would I reproduce your behavior?

  • Thanks Martin, what happened was I would return the next morning and discover a lack of memory warning from VEP/Windows, although I had been using it just fine for several hours before. From windows task manager it appears to be some sort of background loading from Kontatk or Cubase that was happening. I reduced the size of my template I haven't seen it happen again. I also uninstalled Eucon and Nektar which solved a plethora of issues. VSL has always been super solid in terms of stability, I'm just so used to issues with other software which is less forgiving, so I'm sure it's someone else's fault!
