  • Problem with ProTools and VEPro Midi Beat Clock

I tried running Heavyocity's Damage Virtual Instrument in VEPro with ProTools TDM HD and I am having problems with the loops playing in time with my host. If I run Kontakt directly in ProTools with DAMAGE, the loops play fine and are in sync. Basically the main loop is on C1 in Damage and it is four bars long. Works great directly in ProTools. When I run Kontakt in VEPro 5 running alongside ProTools, the loops aren't in proper sync. I'm using the RTAS version of VEPro and I know the delay compensation issue in ProTools and VEPro and I have that running properly. In Kontakt in VePro I have the Master EXT sync on. Again, all works fine JUST in ProTools but the midi beat clock isn't working tightly in ProTools and VEPro5. Thanks for any help. Michael

  • Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

  • I have Pt 10 Native on Lion with no issues like this.

Is Kontact setup for host sync ?

Do you have pt sending midi clock to Kontact or VEP

Sorry I am on holiday now and can't check exactly what my setup is. There were no strange setups , it just worked the same as it had when running outside of VEP. I use Damage too all the time. You could always just set the tempo in Kontact to the same as your DAW as a workaround.

  • are you using the standalone or the server?

  • I am using the server version of VEPro..... I am out of the country and away from studio. There is definitely something not right with VEPro and ProTools are far as tight midi beat clock sync. I may have VEPro set up incorrectly though I have had no issues for the last 2 years. This is the 1st time I am using VEPro with tempo synced loops though. Thanks.

  • MIDI Clock is only used with the standalone version, when syncing with physical midi. The server version synchronizes using AU/VST/RTAS timing info.

    Hi Martin,

Is there a way to separate the Midi Clock from the Server? In my case I am sequencing in Cubase on Mac 1, I have Protools on Mac 2, which is connected to VEP on two PCs: so ideally I want my sequencer midi clock (from Cubase) to instruct the VEP server what the tempo is:

I use Midi Over LAN to communicate between Cubase and the PCs running VEP.

    Thanks for any help!

    Paul

  • Anyone have any ideas about this issue?

Maybe I should email support - I'll do that now!

    Thanks

    Paul

  • Hi Paul

Did you hear back from VSL support regarding this? Did you resolve that issue?

(I'm setting up a similar setup...)

    Thanks!
